Hi everybody,

I don't have a lot of experience when it comes to men and many times I misinterpret their actions. But, this one guy managed to make me really really confused. He is a good friend of my ex-boyfriend with whom I am on good terms now, even though I was hurt after the break-up.

Although the guy never asked me out, when we were in group settings, and he would sit next to me, he would sometimes pay me compliments or know stuff about me that I am positive I have never told him, as we usually never talked alone (for example once we was curious to know how many languages I speak, which leads me to believe that he talked about me with my ex after our break-up).

Well, I never really paid him that much attention simply because, although I was attracted to him, he didn't seem that interested, until this Christmas Eve, when I received a Facebook message from him, wishing me to have a great new year, which took me by surprise since I have not talked to him for at least 2 months. Thinking that this might be a clear sign, I started chatting with him, but it didn't last long. Anyhow, he had to go on his holiday abroad so I left him alone. The day he was coming back, I decided against my better judgement to send him a message telling him that we could chat or skype sometimes if he wants to, to which he replied only that he is tired after the voyage and can barely keep his eyes open at work. After this, he has not initiated any other contact.

Was the guy at some point interested, still is?? Did I make a complete fool out of myself, thinking he might like me when he might have only been nice?

I forgot to mention, we both live in Europe and we are from different countries if that helps somehow.

I appreciate all answers!

It does seem a bit odd for someone to wish you well durring the holidays. I usually get a ton of cards wishing me well @Decemeber even from people I don't really talk to much and haven't seen in forever. Why, if I had a Facebook account, they may even wait till Christmas eve and new years eve to wish me well. So strange.

Even to people you don't normally talk to? Great, you must be nicer than me. Usually, in my country or the one I am currently in, we don't. We only send wishes to those who are close to us, the rest receive perhaps a wall post on Facebook or some tweet.
