Eternal Sunshine Posted January 4, 2013 Posted January 4, 2013 Would you bother if a guy says so in a OLD profile? It just seems weird - and makes me think this guy is too superficial and will just pick apart my appearance.
Emilia Posted January 4, 2013 Posted January 4, 2013 Not really, it's just stating the obvious, isn't it? Everyone wants someone they find attractive.
crude Posted January 4, 2013 Posted January 4, 2013 What if he says he wants a woman with an established career, a good provider. Is that acceptable for a man to want, or just a woman? It's getting to the point where women want everything in a man, while men are supposed to accept nothing from a woman except her mere presence. 1
xxoo Posted January 4, 2013 Posted January 4, 2013 You can infer that he wants a woman who perceives herself to be attractive. Does that describe you? 1
soccerrprp Posted January 4, 2013 Posted January 4, 2013 No, not at all. I put on my profile that I would like someone "attractive." W/o going into great detail, I know what i'm looking for and being the guy, i target women that I find attractive or accept/reject based on what I deem "attractive." Will you have guys picking apart your physical attributes? Yes, some (perhaps all in their own way) will. Almost every woman i've dated has been a target of this silent (mostly) scrutiny and have walked away feeling like men want women who will be attractive forever. No, nothing wrong with wanting and expressing a desire to have someone attractive.
soccerrprp Posted January 4, 2013 Posted January 4, 2013 You can infer that he wants a woman who perceives herself to be attractive. Does that describe you? I find this very interesting.... I often ask the ladies I date if they feel that they are attractive. Their answer tells me a lot about them. Yes, I do have the benefit of seeing photos of them, but their own answer is also of interest. I like this question.
soccerrprp Posted January 4, 2013 Posted January 4, 2013 I think the best part is when men and women are talking about what they want in a partner. You have to sit there and listen as porky pig lists tall, handsome, full head of hair, good career, well educated and oh yes, the body of a Greek God. Then one of the men says he'd like a thin/petite/athletic ( anything but being a chubby chaser ) woman and the crowd goes wild about how it's men like him who cause girls to have low self esteem, develop eating disorders and the media etc etc. Because clearly every young boy is guaranteed to grow up to look like a mix between Brad Pitt, Ryan Gossling and assorted CK underwear models with the business sense of Warren Buffet through no effort on his part, clearly. I don't entirely agree with this, but in the OLD world, it is interesting... Interesting in that the women who have been used to being pampered, with a "successful" professional, want nothing less. They want to find a gentleman and love, but it's clear only if they have the "goods" to keep them going to courtside seats at a basketball game or occasional trips to Waikiki beach. Many ladies like this around where I am. But, the ladies who are not used to this pampering, tend to be more reasonable. Not all, but many....needless to say, it's obvious which ladies I try to weed out and avoid! 1
musemaj11 Posted January 4, 2013 Posted January 4, 2013 No difference than when a woman saying she wants a man with a good job. 1

I know what you mean but I think in general overweight people are weaker psychologically - and that goes for both sexes. It is true that their self confidence will be affected most, it's kind of the reason why they resort to comfort eating in the first place.
Author Eternal Sunshine Posted January 4, 2013 Author Posted January 4, 2013 You can infer that he wants a woman who perceives herself to be attractive. Does that describe you? Nope but one of my new year's resolutions is not to go for "safe" guys anymore but to have a courage to go out with guys I find attractive. Even if all of them ultimately reject me, at least I will let them decide rather than blocking myself with fear. 5
Author Eternal Sunshine Posted January 4, 2013 Author Posted January 4, 2013 Basically what I meant with this thread is are these guys looking for a model look alikes or someone that is just kind of pretty?

Pyro Posted January 4, 2013 Posted January 4, 2013 Basically what I meant with this thread is are these guys looking for a model look alikes or someone that is just kind of pretty? They want an attractive woman. How are we suppose to know if that means a model or a pretty face? It will vary per guy. 2
Emilia Posted January 4, 2013 Posted January 4, 2013 Basically what I meant with this thread is are these guys looking for a model look alikes or someone that is just kind of pretty? Someone who appeals to them. That could be curvy or skinny or blonde or brunette or a redhead. Tall or short. Whatever it is that that particular person finds attractive.
mitchell Posted January 4, 2013 Posted January 4, 2013 But you are an "attractive girl"! Don't let the bums get you down ES. 1
crude Posted January 4, 2013 Posted January 4, 2013 Men aren't as shallow as you think. Look around, most fat or ugly women are married. We don't expect perfection. There are many parts to a woman's face and body, some attractive, some not so much. It's easy enough to focus on what a guy likes, combined with a decent personality and the woman treating the man well, it's all good. Men usually don't pick a woman apart unless she fancies herself a Goddess while he's her slave.
Emilia Posted January 4, 2013 Posted January 4, 2013 unless she fancies herself a Goddess while he's her slave. To fair, some guys go for that too 1
soccerrprp Posted January 4, 2013 Posted January 4, 2013 I have a preference- SLIM or Athletic. When I mean athletic, I mean active and her body clearly shows someone who is and has been active, not simply I play volleyball or kick the ball around when I get the chance...just my preference. But, I have dated a so-called average woman and to this day am baffled as to why I even gave her a second look. Saying that, I haven't been closer to any other women since. Funny, huh? I avoided looking at women outside of my preferences b/c I am into healthy eating and active/fit lifestyle. But, there was something very special about her that attracted me to her...so I am more open to dating women who are "average." So, not all shallow after all. 1
JuneJulySeptember Posted January 4, 2013 Posted January 4, 2013 Would you bother if a guy says so in a OLD profile? It just seems weird - and makes me think this guy is too superficial and will just pick apart my appearance. If a woman said it on her profile, or even mouthed it in real life, something to the effect of "He has to be really good looking" then yes, it's a major turn off. Just because I don't think like that. But, the reality is that most people do think like that whether they verbally state it or not, so, tough call.
soccerrprp Posted January 4, 2013 Posted January 4, 2013 OP, It's clear that he thinks that you are attractive, right? I mean, he's seen your photos, so you know that he finds you attractive. You're worried about whether he will scan you with a magnifying glass...
Emilia Posted January 4, 2013 Posted January 4, 2013 You're worried about whether he will scan you with a magnifying glass... Good luck with the pixels.
soccerrprp Posted January 4, 2013 Posted January 4, 2013 Good luck with the pixels. LOL! You're funny, Emilia! 1
Later82012 Posted January 4, 2013 Posted January 4, 2013 But you are an "attractive girl"! Don't let the bums get you down ES. You can tell that to her a thousand times but she still won't believe it unfortunately. I know a bunch of women like her.
soccerrprp Posted January 4, 2013 Posted January 4, 2013 You can tell that to her a thousand times but she still won't believe it unfortunately. I know a bunch of women like her. Dated a few women like this. Kind of sad...
straightshooter82 Posted January 4, 2013 Posted January 4, 2013 I have a preference the only problem is that in the states the women are mostly fat. If more women weren't so fat, then it wouldn't be such a problem. Oh well, thank God for air travel. I'm with ya buddy. I go on about three international vacations a year, and the difference in my ability to get pretty women in the states versus abroad is night and day. In the states, the percentage of adults who are obese or overweight is well above 60%, so if you're not attracted to overweight women it's always an uphill battle as you're competing with every other man for the small percentage of women who aren't overweight.
