Is it considered a red flag if a guy doesn't pick up a girl on dates?

I've been dating this guys for 2 months. When we go out on dates, we normally meet at the destination. He never usually picks me up. For New Years Eve, he suggested that I park my car at his place and we can take his car from there to the restaurant.

I don't really have a problem with that. But I was curious, is it considered a red flag if a guy doesn't pick up a girl on dates?

If you don't live together and you have your own means of transportation - why would he pick you up?

What will be the reason?

Why do you think this is a red flag.

Interesting question as many urban dwellers don't drive much. MTA and cabs, sure.

I guess our version of your question is do you meet your date at her door? She leaves dates name w doorman?

For the first few dates I think it is better to meet at a mutual and public location. Safety first you know. After you've gotten to know him then it is ok for him to pick you up or for you to meet at his place or whatever. Two months is more than enough time to rule out any safety issues and be comfortable. Do you 2 live on opposite ends of town? That could be why he doesn't pick you up, but it would be nice if he offered once in awhile. What does he say when you've asked him about it?

For your new years plans, are they closer to his place? Will you be sleeping over at his place after your outing? If so then yes it does make sense for you to meet at his place beforehand.

He should be meeting you places. How far away do you live. If it's like only 5 minutes away I guess he could pick you up.

I live in Studio City, he lives in Korea Town. The restaurant for New Years Eve is located in Malibu (about an hour and a half drive).

I haven't asked him why he doesn't pick me up, it never really came to mind until just recently when my mom said "he should be picking you up!" And that got me thinking. lol. So that's why I'm asking, to get other people's opinions.

No it's not a bad thing unless he lives really close to you. If he's more than 25 min away then it's silly if he has to back track to pick you up. Also depends on the rest of the relationship. If he's treating you well in other areas, this is a non issue.

He's picking you up for NYE bc it's a long drive so that makes sense and is the polite thing to do :D

Not that convenient, but still.

Most guys pick their dates up unless logistically it makes no sense (e.g. she's spending the night at his place).

If you like him otherwise, and it hadn't bothered you, don't sweat it.

You said "your mom"...Do you live at home still? Maybe he's sketched out to meet your mom. Have you introduced them yet?

Most men pick up their dates and most women are secretaries and make $40 a week, oh wait, that was the 1950's.

do you need him to pick you up? if not, why is it an issue?

My mother thinks the same way that I sould always pay on dates and drive my girlfriend everywhere.

But at the same time she also thinks that a woman must be able to cook and must obey her husband ...
