I've been dating this guy for 2 months. In the beginning, he used to text me everyday. But lately, he's been texting me every other day. It's finally been 3 days and I didn't heard from him, so I decided to call him but he didn't answer. So I texted him "Was hoping to catch you on the phone...wanted to wish you and your family a Merry Christmas, I look forward to seeing you on NYE." He replied with "Merry Christmas to you too, I've been excited about NYE all week!" And that was it.

My gut tells me that he's not really into me anymore. But my question is, why would a guy spend New Years Eve with a girl if he wasn't that interested?

Because he doesn't have anything else to do?

Yeah. My ex was living proof of this. He wasn't interested in a relationship with me. He was interested in sex and/or companionship...... Sure, men (and women?) do this all the time. My ex told me he wasn't interested in finding anyone else. He may have been honest about that, but that didn't mean that he was interested in me for more than companionship and/or sex.

Sad but true. :(

Is he doing all the heavy lifting when it comes to communication?

It sounds like it if you are willing to wait 3 days for him to contact you.

As a man, if a woman doesn't initiate contact with me I feel she isn't interested & start pulling back myself or only contact her when I want to set up a date.

What effort are you putting in? 2 months is a long time for the guy to have to do all the initiating / planning imo. I mean did you try to contact him in those 3 days you heard nothing?
