After an OLD binge, the best site for guys is...

eHarmony

Allow me to explain.

Over the past few years, I've been a paying member on Match, True, Chemistry, and eHarmony. I also frequent the free sites (OKC, PoF).

eHarmony is just unparalleled for guys who actually want a relationship.

Do your own research on this, but in some areas the male/female ratio is 30/70. It is likely to be 40/60 on average, but without a doubt more women use it.

The reason behind this is pretty obvious once you use the site; it is nearly impossible to use the site just to hook up. Also, it is one of the most expensive OLD sites, which isn't necessarily a bad thing. Are you delivered a handful of matches once your account is created, and only a few every day or two from there on out. It sounds a little contrived, but it actually works very well like this. It saves a lot of time and weeds out people that you wouldn't consider.

Guys, give it a chance if you are looking for something serious! It does require a great deal of patience, but it feels much more like a private matchmaker than a meat market.

Thanks for the review! I'm still on the fence of using online dating; I never had much success with the free ones but also didn't expect much so maybe that was holding me back. Tried OKC, didn't get any responses after a few months; tried PoF, didn't seen anyone that interested me. I have a friend who's actually talking to his girlfriend right now, who he met on Match. Though, this is the first one that's panned out for him (i.e. more than one date) after 6 months of paying 30 bucks a month.

I've been considering eHarmony for a while, because I think they cater more to what I'd like: A relationship. Sure, I'll take what I can get right now, and I'd be happy with that. But I'd really like a relationship. Unfortunately, I don't know if I'd be able to commit the funds or my full effort to online dating. I know it's a valid way of meeting people these days, but it still feels kind of weird to me.

As for being the most expensive, that makes sense to me. It's just another way of weeding things out. I occasionally work as a freelance contractor and the best way to avoid the stupid clients who cause problems (like not paying, nickling and diming, etc etc) is to raise the rates and see who comes along for the ride.

Question: How are online dating sites in terms of younger folks (18-22ish)? Especially eHarmony/Match/etc

Well, I am 24 and it's pretty good. However, many girls on Match, through my experience, are just looking for "fun" (not necessarily sex, but just want to hang out). Hence the eHarmony plug for relationships.
