IT Geek Posted December 18, 2012 Posted December 18, 2012 So, all my shopping is done (easy since I only had myself to buy for) and Christmas is around the corner. Trying to figure out something to do to occupy me on this day we're supposed to be spending with family. So those of you that will be spending Christmas alone, what are YOU doing?
RR1 Posted December 19, 2012 Posted December 19, 2012 I too am in the xmas alone club. Best advice i can give you is cook a traditional xmas dinner. This actually serves two purposes: 1. it takes along time to do because there's loads to do, yes it might seem like a bit of an extravagence just for one person but the idea is to keep you occupied and so therefore not sitting there all miserable due to the fact that you are spending xmas alone All you vegetarians out there can do it as well, just substitute quorn or nut roast for turkey, veggie gravy is easy to get as well. Actually i'm a non meat-eater too so i'll be going for this latter option. 2. It will also make you feel festive because you will be having a traditional xmas lunch/dinner. Then after stuffing your face you won't feel like doing jack sh*t anyway because you'll be too stuffed so hence not that bothered that you are just sitting in front of the TV watching some film you don't particularly want to see. There we go job done.
Author IT Geek Posted December 19, 2012 Author Posted December 19, 2012 I like that idea, but I'm on a strict diet to lose weight and get in shape so hopefully next Christmas I won't be alone. LOL Probably going to get some Boston Market like I did for Thanksgiving. May go out and hike at Stone Mountain. Hopefully they will be open.

I admire your perseverance with your diet, but just know that physiologically, a cheat meal on Christmas isn't going to ruin your progress. In fact, it may help it provided that you don't go completely 20,000 calories overboard. That said, if it's one of those things where it will just be a slippery slope into ruining your good habits, then yeah, I hear your point. I don't know what kind of environment you live in, but you could always try doing something like: -go for a hike or go snowshoeing -go see a movie -skiing (if you have access to it) -goose hunting -build a model car/airplane/boat -volunteer at a soup kitchen -volunteer at an animal shelter -volunteer at a nursing home Sorry you're having to go at this alone, man. Holidays kind of suck for a lot of people. 1

Well, I found out while Stone Mountain Park will be closed, the gates will be open (two hotels on property) and that the trails will be accessible. I think I'm going to go out there and instead of doing a cardio hike/jog I may just leisurely meander around with my camera and actually take in the sights. If the weather is really good, I may trek up the mountain and try to get some sunset shots.
Mr Scorpio Posted December 19, 2012 Posted December 19, 2012 Same thing I do every Christmas: watching NBA basketball all day long.
geegirl Posted December 19, 2012 Posted December 19, 2012 Make a big feast. Eat. Get cozy with the couch and nap through A Christmas Story marathon.
CronusE Posted February 5, 2013 Posted February 5, 2013 Seeing as I've been single for a long time, and my family and siblings have moved away, I spend most Christmas' with a few mates, but usually by the end of the day am alone again :-/ I searched up things to do and came across this pretty quirky list ... 51 different things to do 51 Things To Do On Christmas - Alone | LonerWolf
