I have tickets for one of THE NYE events in my area, a masquerade ball. I'd really like to go but that's just not something that a single guy goes to.

Would it be morally wrong to hire a date? Not for sex or anything, just to be my "companion" and eye candy for the evening?

Opinions?

That seems a little odd to me, to be honest. Why not invite someone who you like or at least a bunch of friends? Why not spend the evening with people whose company you enjoy as opposed to a stranger you've paid to be there? That doesn't sound at all enjoyable for either of you.

Edit: Sorry I didn't read thoroughly. if you're curious solely about the moral implications, I don't know if there's anything wrong with it but I've never really heard of this before.

I would craigslist it before I went straight to paying for it.

Then again I don't believe in hiring escorts for any reason period. Not to bang, not even to shake hands.

You could always just go with some friends and enjoy yourself, or roll solo in the hopes you'd find some single girls.

I was planning on maybe going downtown to watch the ball drop, and I'm single, but I assume there are some girls who just go with their girlfriends, looking for a total stranger to share a kiss with.
