ironmanpower Posted December 14, 2012 Posted December 14, 2012 I was looking around for a new house and I met this agent. She's 29 and I am 30 and we talked about houses and she brought me to see a few. We started to get close and share our personal stories. She mentioned she's recently divorced (a year ago) and has 2 kids. A 4 yr old girl and a 2 year old boy. We have dated twice and there's an incredible connection between us. We talked about anything under the roof, shared our relationship experiences and as usual, she was bashing her ex. She's a little more mature in her thinking as she have gone through a lot and this is not what I see when I date women in their 20s. She did told me that it's not appropriate for me to like her as she's a divorced women with 2 kids. But then she text me that if we're still single 3 years down the road, maybe we should consider dating each other. I told her let's just be friends. And she thanked me for opening her up as she has not shared her thoughts and feelings with anyone close for a long time. I love kids and I am very close to my niece and nephews. I am keeping a distance as I treat her as a friend and do not want to become too emotionally attached. If she is divorced without children, I may date her. I am not sure what to expect when dating a divorced women. The social stigma of a divorcee with kids as a package. etc. or she's in a hurry looking for a new father to parent her children. It's not easy raising kids that are not your "own". After all these years, I'm much more mature and a little more experienced in relationships. I've learn not to rush into things and just take it slow. Would anyone on this board be kind enough to share their experiences?
DC4 Posted December 14, 2012 Posted December 14, 2012 Who cares, you're not getting married. One man I date has custody of 15 kids or how ever many there are and it's not an issue. I actually don't even think I know their names come to think of it.
mortensorchid Posted December 14, 2012 Posted December 14, 2012 THere's really not much to say on this. You admit that you haven't known her for very long. Are you getting such a vibe off of her? If so then what? Take time to get to know one another.
Lobouspo Posted December 14, 2012 Posted December 14, 2012 You will always play second fiddle to her kids. Find someone without the baggage you can actually plan a future with while you are still young enough...This is not worth the aggravation, trust me.
lovefiction Posted December 14, 2012 Posted December 14, 2012 I am a single mother with one boy... I did not start dating until my son was 7 years old thinking it would be easier... After two years with a man we have recently broken up... But honestly one of the biggest problems we had was my unavailability... It hurts terribly because I would have loved to spend more time with him but my son is my responsbility. He is actually a parent so I thought he would understand but as a divorced father his kids have moved away with their mother so he has become "free"... So over these last few months he has wanted to experience adult freedoms (traveling, impromptu dates, weekend trips etc) and I was not able to be a partner in this... He has met someone else now who is more "available" he said...

Oh if she has a cat, you will be 4th.
