socrushed Posted December 10, 2012 Posted December 10, 2012 I just had a situation today that went like this. I was getting lunch and I walked past a couple coworkers on my way to the cafeteria. They were just hanging out and there was also this young attractive looking asian girl(i'm also asian) who I didn't know, but i made eye contact and smiled with her a couple times when i walked past her. I'm not really part of their social group. I'm kind of a loner and i think they view me as distant, weird, and aloof. They said hey, i said hi and kept walking and i felt kind of awkward. Then as i walked past them, one of the guy who messes with me sometimes says "hey name." I turn around, and he says "she's calling for you" and points to her. I look at her, and she smiles and shakes her head. So clearly he was messing with me again and now i'm in an awkward situation. I tried to be funny and say "aw you got my hopes up" and then he said "why are you shy?" and I just said "i'm not shy..." and walked away. Okay, so recounting that moment made me cringe a little. i'm awkward and shy. I can't even begin to have confident and playful banter. I don't even know what was the proper way to react in that situation, or in new situations that are similar to that. What am i supposed to do to not give off a vibe of awkward shy insecure guy, and instead give off a vibe of playful confident guy?
