eleve82 Posted December 9, 2012 Posted December 9, 2012 I came across an interesting situation and wondered what the guys/gals out there would do I met an interesting guy at some networking event and got round to contacting him to stay in touch, as I always do with those worth keeping in touch with. We ended up exchanging a few emails and agreeing to meeting up over dinner a few days later. It so turned out that day we met, he got told he was being made redundant. I felt he was pre-occupied for the rest of the night (which I don't blame him for) and have to admit I have more fun talking with guy friends who I don't even have a romantic interest in tho this could be unfair given his situation. I didn't hear from him for week or so after. In a normal situation, the complete lack of initiative on his part since that day suggests he has no interest whatsoever (in even being friends). BUT because I know how its like to be made redundant, I initiated contact twice afterwards to give him moral support and refer a few useful sites that worked for me. (It just didn't feel right not to). He seemed appreciative but I doubt I will be in contact with the fella again (I like being of help to people but I don't want to be a nuisance) but this was an interesting situation that I wondered what other people would have done? Lay-offs are happening all the time, I'm sure some folks have been in the same situation?
