There is a way to pursue your ex without coming across as desperate or needy. Confident pursuit is more attractive. Granted the no contact policy is necessary too. You need time to get your emotions calmed down after a breakup before you can pursue your ex in a confident way. So you can intiate contact with your ex provided that you are upbeat, happy and can make her laugh again and having a sense of humor. In some breakup situations pursuit at some point may be the only chance at getting her back. If she broke up with you because you never spent enough time with her or because she did not feel you made her feel loved then playing hard to get will not work.
