So what have you learnt from past relationships that you feel is worth sharing with the masses?

For me it's never allow your heart to overrule your common sense, if something feels wrong and doesn't make sense then it probably is very wrong and 'you' are ignoring it/convincing yourself that it's right.

-Never show the extent of your feelings for a man , and delay showing them as much as possible. Not saying be a cold-hearted bitch, but don't wear your heart on your sleeve. A man who realizes the extent of your feelings for him might easily manipulate you to get what he wants, knowing that you won't leave him. Show your feelings, but make sure that he realizes that your feelings do not trump your boundaries.

-Go with your gut feeling; if you suspect that he's playing you, or cheating on you, chances are, you're right. Do not be afraid to demand explanations.

-Stand your ground and do not be afraid of losing him if you stand your ground and set your boundaries. If he's going to leave you because you are enforcing your boundaries, you're better off without him -- unless you want to live / be treated as a doormat for the entire duration of your relationship.

-Any threats to break up with you, and you tell him, don't let the door hit you on the way out. Pure and simple blackmail and emotional abuse on his part, that I am unwilling to put up with.

-If he wants to play the passive-aggressive game and go quiet on me for a few days as "punishment" for not giving him what he wanted, I will play that game right back, and go quiet on him. For good.

-Any mention of threesomes -- not even talking about him asking me if I want to do it; just the mere mention of the idea of threesomes -- and I am out of there. Forever.

-Not dating/having a relationship with anyone who makes regular trips to Thailand. One trip (before having met me) is one too many times.

You can't control other's actions but you can control your own. If you let your heart ignore many red flags, suck it up and live the consequences. We often break our own hearts.
