Well, don't listen to songs that have more meaning for you. After the break up I started to look for new bands and avoided all kind of romantic-post-BU-this-is-gonna-make-you-cry type of songs that reminded my ex. I'm a hardcore/metalcore guy who also loves jazz and classical when in the mood, but I needed to avoid them after BU because my ex played the piano (classical stuff) and we used to listen to jazz while having sex (too much info, sorry) so they reminded me of her. However as you heal you can get back to your old favs, like now I listen to jazz and classical with no problem. Edited December 1, 2012 by spaniard
Blastoplast Posted December 1, 2012 Posted December 1, 2012 Yes, there are certain songs that get me every time where I have to leave the room or change the station. Love & Happiness by Al Green is one of them, that was supposed to be our dance song if we ever got married.
Author MAD Posted December 2, 2012 Author Posted December 2, 2012 Spanjard good to hear that bro.I'm old school thrash metal MOSH pit guy back in the day.I enjoy all music now and bust out thrash metal when hitting my heavy bag .glad to know I will enjoy my jams in time .Crazy ass wife would have the Al Green going going and singing but never had a clue it reminded her of OM .Ahh bitch whatever .
Mr Scorpio Posted December 2, 2012 Posted December 2, 2012 Forever? No. The musical trigger will slowly fade into the background like the others. Will it still conjure memories? Sure. Will the effect be as deep? Nope.
spaniard Posted December 2, 2012 Posted December 2, 2012 On the other hand, I'm not quite sure that I understand why you keep those songs on your iPod. Why don't you get rid of them?
