How did everyone fall into their ldr?

Posted

We met on a friendship/dating site for people who are into sports and fitness.

I had written a long and soul bearing profile which he completely related to and, although we were 12,000 miles from each other, he couldn't resist saying 'hi'! :D

I responded with a 'great to hear from you - let's be pen pals':laugh::laugh: Yeah right!

We communicated every day from that point on - email first, then msn, then phone, then Skype.

Two months later he flew half way around the world to meet me and the romance began for real with a very long hug in an airport arrivals lounge.

We started dating in high school then he joined the military a few years later and we have spent around 3 years away from each other. I flew around a lot to see him since he was stationed and couldn't really do the same. We also managed to see each other through skype. It is so hard but for some crazy reason made our relationship stronger than anything. We recently got married and he is now in Europe and we are just waiting around to receive housing for me to move to Europe. We met at home but our relationship eventually ended up in ldr.

He sent me a smooch on a friendship/dating site, and an email, a site for people with a particular lifestyle in common, (not wanting to give too many details away here!), we had several things in common, things felt right from our first email, I thought 'ooooh!' when I saw his pic :o He just looked lovely and kind, warm hearted, attractive.

Emailed for a couple of weeks I think and then started talking on msn for hours at a time each day, then phone and then skype, when I first saw him on skype (he couldn't see me the first time), he said afterwards 'hope you still want to meet me?!' Like he was worried I wouldn't after seeing him on camera!

I loved his voice and accent, I still do, he doesn't sound Dutch to me, he sounds American, although some of my friends think he sounds Dutch and not American! I'm English, his English is better than mine, I often tell him that.

We met face to face 3 1/2 months after he first got in touch online, he said he'd never felt he wanted to meet someone so quickly before :o

A lot of ups and downs, but still together 2 1/2 years later, met about 20 times.

We met in graduate school, but he was a year ahead of me so we started the LDR thing when he graduated

on an online dating site. i was looking for someone close to me (in US), but when i got a flirt and message from him, this cute guy in europe, i couldn't resist! we had a lot in common and i found him very attractive, so eventually we started e-mailing, then skyping, then texting, then meeting for the first time (11 months after we first started talking)! It's been hard but we've been working on ourselves and the relationship together. We will meet again in a matter of weeks :) :)

We met on an dating advice board full of colorful characters.

We were both getting over difficult times.

His posts in particular struck me as enlightened, non-judgmental, compassionate, and brilliantly written.

Plus he was sexy.

An intriguing combination.

I did a quick googling of his location and threw my mouse across the room.

Foiled again: he was nearly on the other side of the world.

Annoyed.

Though I never expected it to manifest in anything, I'd regularly read his thoughts and chapters of his story, finding myself admiring him all the more for the honesty and self-awareness expressed therein.

He'd also put such effort into helping others--whereas I was more interested in acting like a beast or cracking wise.

I developed an enormous crush.

Like a fat kid in front of the refrigerator, I'd devour his every word unbeknownst to him.

But again...that damn ocean.

But, as luck would have it, I caught his eye too.

Eventually we connected and he flew to California to see me.

He turned out to be all the great things I had assumed.

I'm extremely lucky.

And extremely thankful.

We both were signed up on the same international forum, no dating site, just a regular forum for people with specific interest, then I chatted up to him one day and we started emailing - at first it was just as friends cause I still had a bf back then but the rlship was dying, soon I broke it up (but it wasnt because of my current SO, I was planning to do that anyway) and then..... I saw his picture, he saw mine and we both liked what we saw very much :p We started to write more and more and then I realised we have incredible chemistry..... it went like this for a few months until one day something happened and I spilled the beans about how I feel, he admitted feeling the same way but said, LDR is a hard thing and I'm not able to fly over to you because of money.... but his feelings took over and a month later we started to be "together", as in, agreed not to seek out and hook up with anyone else, afraid to let go of each other. And it's been like that for 3 years already, we agreed on a deadline of 2013 - if we don't meet up next year then.... I prefer not to think about it. So it happens, that I'm moving to the country neighbouring with his so if we click, we can start planning our future together :p

We first met when he was in my country for work (in April), we exchange emails and started emailing back and forth, and then we move on to chat with webcam, and finally skype. We talk everyday right after he get home from work, with the exception of Friday, because we both usually go out to have fun.

When we talk about our families, he told me that it matter to him that his family likes me because he have a feeling for me. After a couple of months, he suggested a second meeting, where we met halfway, because he went to another country for work. That is where we made it official. I went there with a friend of mine because we were not familiar with the place. We made it official there (September)!

On Monday, we will meet again, halfway. This time, he only have to work for a day, and we will spend 4 precious days together! We have not talk about the end of our LDR yet because of our own commitments. *sigh*

Well, I'm not in it yet but he wants to be!

My roommate accepted a request from Couchsurfing and he was only supposed to stay one night and I only saw him for mayyybe 2 hours that night. Then the next day he missed his way out of America to Australia and was stranded for a week.

He just came home with me and tagged along everything I did for that week, and on his last day told me he wants to be with me and is planning on having me come out to see him! He's German but getting his PhD in Oz.

I met my boyfriend in zombie defense league, a club at our school in my junior year. We quickly became best friends and after a month or two it became something more. But his step dad got a new job 1250 miles away in Florida and he was told that he was moving in 3 weeks. We started dating 10 days before he moved and have been together for 6 months today!

A close friend added her on facebook because he met someone else with the same name, a confusion actually. She added me when she went through his friends list, I thought I must know her via my friend, so I added her back. A month later she chats me up. Brutal attraction right from the start. I was in a relationship at the time. One year later we meet for the first time in person and I break it off with my now ex.
