sweetreats2 Posted November 24, 2012 Posted November 24, 2012 So my ex and I broke up about 6 months ago. It was a complete shock to me because at the time, we had only been dating for a few months but nothing was wrong at least that's what it seemed to me. When we broke up, he told me he loved me, but needed space and time for himself. About two months later I found out he was hanging out with a new girl. They weren't dating but in the least, hanging out with each other. About a little over a month after finding that out, I had visited some friends at a place where we had both worked, and ran into him. He ignored me and acted as if I was invisible. A few days after that he texted me, saying it was good to see me the other day, and he asked how I was doing and about my family. He also texted me the day after saying hi as well, and when I replied back because I was confused as to why he would be texting me, he said he just wanted to say hi. I did hear from a mutual friend that he seemed bothered however that I was talking to another guy, so I figured he was texting me not to just say hi, but to fish around for information. Alas, I first told him let's be friends, but then texted him later saying I couldn't be friends with him. A few days after this all went down, he became officially dating that other girl. I am still confused as to what he really wanted when he first texted me. Was he trying to see if maybe I was still interested in getting back together, and once I said let's be friends he decided to go with the girl who was around and obviously interested in him? Or was he really just texting to say hi? I have never had an ex just say hi before, and especially not within a few months of just breaking up. If someone could give some advice that would be great

If someone could give some advice that would be great This sounds sorta familiar . Long story short, my last bf dumped me out of the blue (for a new girl in his crowd) thinking she was into him. When she didn't exactly "pan out" easily he contacted me a few months after the break up. He used me to try to make her jealous. He actually interrupted sex with me to tell her about it, lmao! It didn't work out for him, and he is still making a fool of himself, chasing her (his best friend is also a good friend of mine and tells me all about it). I walked out of this jerk's life completely. Bottom line is, don't play second fiddle and definitely don't respond. He isn't just saying "Hi", there is always a motive.
