NYC-BigKat Posted November 23, 2012 Posted November 23, 2012 It was really really bad . Lots of people was popping up at my aunt's house uninvited. I was invited with my mom & sister so it was okay for us but not for alot of other people. My aunt didn't make enough food to feed everybody so fights was breaking out everywhere . Then my seedy uncle came with a date & another couple & my aunt & everyone got so mad. In the kitchen my aunt screamed at him for coming, said he was high (I dont know if its true) & she threw the tomatoes at him. People had to stop her from doing more. My uncle laughs like its funny & then leaves. Half the people get out 'cause my aunt is really really flipping. When the house finally calms down everyone at the table starts throwing dirt on people saying bad things. Nobody likes any body & I didn't even know this . I never knew my family was so messed up like this. Maybe we better skip x-mas & every holiday now u know. Anyone else have a bad holiday? I'm still upset over this .
El Brujo Posted November 23, 2012 Posted November 23, 2012 One of the things I enjoy about living alone is having Thanksgiving alone, I just give some of the turkey to the dog and the cat. Back when my family were all still alive, they always fussed over Thanksgiving dinner like it was a Victorian-era tea party, everything always had to be so damn formal. I'm a convenience kind of person, not a formality kind of person... so yeah, I'm thankful I don't have to put up with their nonsense any more. 1
gaius Posted November 23, 2012 Posted November 23, 2012 You are the only person I know that has a family more dysfunctional than mine Bigkat. Things ended up falling through with the 2 relatives I managed with much effort to cobble together so I had thanksgiving with a stray cat. Which was oddly satisfying for some reason.
dasein Posted November 23, 2012 Posted November 23, 2012 Sorry you had to go through this. I'd start skipping in your shoes or having the holidays only including the non negative people at places they won't figure out and show up.
Minka333 Posted November 23, 2012 Posted November 23, 2012 (edited) Went through the same thing too. My uncles were drunk while playing blackjack. Suddenly one uncle cusses another..almost hit each other like Tom n' Jerry. The wives stepped in and cussed at their husbands. It was quite hilarious actually as they bickered like kids..talking out of their asses. I guess gambling and alcohol is a bad combination. I was embarrassed a bit coz' my bf joined us. He witnessed live drama. He hugged me coz' he thought i was scared. It was quite an unforgettable Thanksgiving party! Edited November 23, 2012 by Minka333
FitChick Posted November 23, 2012 Posted November 23, 2012 I overheard someone on their phone saying, "Why do families have to ruin the holidays?" So much for the sentimental myths surrounding this time of year.

Me thinks mine was the worst 'cause so many people in my family has issues with each other that I never knew. All of them has issues with my uncle no matter what but then theres others they dont like either. I know my aunt (uncle's sister) really really hates her brother & told him just this summer that he is not invited to any family functions at all but my uncle dont care & still shows up with guests . My aunt still wants to do x-mas but I'm scared to come 'cause my family is really big (ricans & dominicans) so anyone could pop up & we dont get along good.
