What started out as a group complaint, morphed into hilarity and optimism.

On a board for asexuals (yes, there is such a thing, and it has over 40,000 posters, so you better watch it, suckaz), one young woman started a thread by lamenting there should be an easier way to find love. I replied by voicing my frustration that I'm the only human being on God's green Earth who thinks finding a partner who has the traits you're looking for, should be no different from shopping for a car that has the options you want, but of course the rest of the human race doesn't agree with me on that.

To my surprise, an older woman, a younger man, and a bunch of others replied, "mememememe!!! I think looking for love should be like shopping for a car!":eek::eek:

Then I replied jokingly, maybe we could invent a new kind of dating---"Deadpan Dating"---where a group of men and women all bring notepads where they've written down all the traits they want in a partner, and then they move from one to the next, grilling them. It would be like a laid-back version of speed dating, Mister Spock style. :lmao:

They thought this was pretty funny... but they also agreed, "hey, why not? Everything else has been tried."

I think the premise is good enough to start a IRL Deadpan Dating group. PUAs and ditzes need not apply. :p

That's a funny idea. And it might well work. Although personally, sometimes I meet people who objectively seem to meet all my criteria for a partner - and I still don't find them attractive.
