djdiablo Posted November 20, 2012 Posted November 20, 2012 I am in a quasi-LDR with a girl (I commute so we only see each other on weeekends) and we have been together for one year. Her grandmother is about to pass away so I wanted to ask the group how to best support my girlfriend through this until Friday when I will most likely see her. When my own grandmother passed away a few months ago - she said she wanted to give me space to deal with things so I sent her a quick email last night when she said she didn't feel like talking as she had just found out her grandmother has general cancer. I only said. "I completely understand. I am a call away if you need me." Should I do something else? Something daily to check up? I've never been through this before with any girl and care very much about my girlfriend.
HeavenOrHell Posted November 20, 2012 Posted November 20, 2012 When my partner's mum was diagnosed with cancer, he said sorry that he wasn't talking much about it but he didn't want to worry himself, he said it helped to know I was there even if we didn't talk much about it. He's a very closed person anyway, so I never crowd him. A text or email would be alright, and you see her at weekends anyway.
