So I've been told on multiple occasions that I have a sexy voice. I've had a lot of girls call me at wee hours in the night just to hear my voice. I don't think voice alone can land you a date but it did make me think about it's place in attraction as a whole.

Looking back, I don't think I've dated anyone with a voice I found annoying or too squeaky etc. Has anyone dated someone with a voice they didn't particularly care for or find attractive? It's something small but it's still funny how I can't think of one instance where I said "man she's hot but her voice is off putting". Or maybe attraction is such that it makes me appreciate her voice no matter what she sounds like?

I don't know. I think this is more to do with women than men. Not sure how many men care about what a girl sounds like. It's funny because I'm an anti-phone guy and much prefer to text but my results on the phone are just spectacular. How can a voice be that much of a turn on for some women? It's just a voice

So I guess the overall question is, how big of a role does voice play in attraction?

I do like a sexy voice to be honest, all the girls I liked had a very broad yet highly seductive tone.

Girls like my voice, but only because they expect me to sound like a stereotypical hood black guy (and to be honest, sometimes I do sound like that depending on the setting ) and they are surprised that naturally I sound very "proper English" and well-spoken. It's also a lot deeper naturally nowadays than before. I don't know if that was conscious but my voice is very deep and expressive now.

Vocaroo sample or ban! A rap clip isn't sufficient to gauge proper enunciation.

Yeah. I should add it that it's probably not just the tone of the voice but the delivery. Admittedly it's something I've consciously worked on. I speak softer and slower than I used to, and I also speak less. I'm one of those guys who only says stuff that's important. No filler. I'm very theatrical when it comes to talking. Taking pauses here and there to build anticipation.

Example--Old me: You're so hot!

New me: Heh, well...I think...you're a...very...attractive woman.

 I second that. I was gonna upload my own voice but not sure if I should. I recall someone mentioning that there was an official voice thread on this forum many moons ago so I guess it's not a totally radical idea.

I've only cancelled one OLD out of maybe 50 due to a bad voice/accent, so not really picky in that area. I don't like certain female voice patterns, particularly the intermittent "frying pan sizzle" rasping. croaky quality fashionable within certain strata of women today (see Zooey Deschanel). Also don't like any kind of voice with a shrieking or shriek laughter combos. Prefer a smooth resonant voice that women who have done any kind of singing in life, church choir, chorus or whatever, seem to naturally have, no matter the pitch. But in the grand scheme of my personal preferences, voice issues are low.

Some of us put our voices in the OTT thread, using vocaroo. Just pop into the OTT thread and do a thread specific search with the word vocaroo. HOAL consolidated most of the voice clips into one post.

I'm just teasing TW because he's such a great guy. Bet he has an awesome voice. :)

As far as voice is concerned, it helps with attraction. My H. has a smexy, deep voice which I adore!

Screw it. I'm doing it. This will also help clear some stuff up because when I go to other states, people say they can pick up my New York accent and I don't think I have a New York accent at all. We'll put it to the test.

Not saying you guys shouldn't, but internet anonymity is a valuable thing, and once lost, hard to get back. Keep that in mind. That said, it is just a voice, but the world is a smaller thing than we realize sometimes.

Most people have heard my voice on the internet, my anonymity has never really been an issue for me .

I've received compliments on my "phone" voice as well, so it's definitely something that gets recognized from my experience. I'm also someone who doesn't like to talk on the phone very much either. I have a deep voice which is not too common. To me, most guys kind of sound the same just a little higher here or lower there.

I don't think there is any coincidence however of why I like a nice voice as well. I typically prefer accents over normal clear speak though, I can find myself annoyed when someone speaks in a very high pitch or has a very loud and obnoxious laugh, or speaks in a deep voice. Also when someone really sounds their S's that can be noticeable to me but I don't know if that would bother me it just stands out.

I can speak with a lisp myself at times which is a bit embarrassing especially with a deep voice, so I'm not perfect myself.

True story here though:

I was a kid, and my dad and uncle were in the kitchen...I wasn't very old, maybe 11 or 12 at the most maybe even younger than that. My dad and uncle were talking about something as they were bsing with each other and for some reason they mentioned something about how a girl sounds over the phone and whether they can tell how attractive she is by her voice or something like that...and I kid you not this is what i said and I remembered it.

"If she has a really nice or cute voice she is probably fat or ugly, but if she sounds like a man she's probably really hot"

They started rolling with laughter when i said that, and I just kind of stood there perplexed because I guess I didn't really get the joke, I was speaking just a matter of fact like. And the funny thing is I've definitely found that to be true on occasion If I'm being honest and yeah I'll probably take some flak for it but I've met a lot of attractive women with horrible voices and unattractive women with great voices, and I'm not sure why but it reminds me of that time i said that out of innocence and observation and laugh to myself because it's just a funny thing to remember, i don't hold it to any truth.

With that being said, no i don't think you can tell how attractive someone is by their voice but I do like a nice voice myself, I guess I like a soft and soothing more tone that isn't too high or low since this is probably the first time I'm really thinking out loud about this.

I've definitely spoken to women on the phone, whether for business or pleasure and just not having met them yet and were turned on by their voice. I remember one time I spoke with some representative from some company, was like my cell phone or some crap like that and I really liked her voice and she seemed to like mine and we stayed gabbing on the phone a little bit because there definitely seemed like some attraction and chemistry, whether that was just chemistry or her voice though is debatable.

I've got a "california girl" accent, but I'm black so I get a similar reaction to ThaWholigan when I talk. ;) I talk fast, and my voice is kinda high pitched. But it is pleasant (according to everyone else).

(I posted a pic the other day.....you be the judge on if the voice and the face match)

I love the "surprise" look when I meet people I've only talked to on the phone, especially in professional settings. They usually have a mental pic of a blond sorority girl.

It is a bit warbled, but you'll get the idea.

Ah well, I suppose the gig is up with my web anonymity:o

Have to agree with Ninja. I have found myself infatuated with someone in the past just from their voice. I guess to give a comparison he sounded a little like a young Sean Bean,(Game of Thrones) including British accent.

But for me voice could never be the only thing about a guy that gets me hooked. Most of the time, you could talk to lots of men or women but no one of them's voice stands out from the rest. Voice can be just part of the overall package of how a man presents himself to those around him.

LOL! Totally, I am picturing like a Shai video or something.

I have an ex-coworker that sounds like you + Boston Irish accent. I blame the cigars. Loved talking to him on the phone!

When I was online dating, I sometimes talked on phone before meeting in person. They all loved my voice and accent and it made them have more motivation to see me. Some guys have really sexy voice but it stands out more on the phone as well cause that is all you have Of them. In person, visuals always take over.
