when you hear a noise downstairs. Do you go downstairs side by side with your husband like a couple, or does he go alone? If your thinking is, if there's someone down there with a gun or knife you'd rather it be him that gets shot or stabbed, as long as you're safe.

Ha, neither of us has to go. The dogs go for us. If no one is downstairs screaming in 10 seconds, we know all is clear and roll back over and fall asleep

Same with the dog.

Otherwise he wants to check things out. With any noise, it's always been nothing....so I just don't bother.

I think if I SERIOUSLY thought someone wasin my house, I'd just roll over and call 911.

Wasn't married to my ex but when I lived with him he usually worked the graveyard shift. I had to investigate strange noises in the night by myself.

If they have silenced the dogs, we would both go, probably me first TBH as H can sleep through anything and I am usually awake as I have insomnia. But, if both awake, H would push me behind him and we would tackle the intruder.

my husband's away a lot, so i'd do it myself. if someone was sneaking around downstairs, my organic burglar alarm (i.e.- my parrot) would kick up a huge fuss and probably scare the h@ll of of them ( the first thing he does when he wakes up is to do his imitation of an air raid siren at the top of his lungs:laugh:...

We'd both reach out under our beds and grab our loaded machines guns, he would then somersault over the banister while I leap onto the chandelier and swing across the vestibule, both of use showering bullets on the intruder.:D

2 cents for guessing the OP's reasons for posting this thread. Sorry, can't offer more; at least 100 people will get it right, and I can't spend more than $2 on frivolous stuff today.

There was a burglarizing rapist and murderer in a small town about five hours away from where I live. One of the requirements he had for choosing a victim was a woman who lived alone. Despite the fact that the killer was a high ranking military official, an angry man was not an obstacle that he wanted to try to overcome.

In this society, men are hardwired to be protectors. Most of the time, females do not have the physical strength that a male does when it comes to fighting off another man.

My partner and I were sitting downstairs when we heard a strange nose from upstairs. I went upstairs first armed with a bottle of wine (unopened ... not a bribe tactic) to hit the potential intruder, only to find it was a snake. It was a diamond python and had come out of the wall (from a blank powerpoint).

depends on the time of day - if it's morning/afternoon i'd just go alone or take my dogs with me, but if was late night i'd ask my man to get up and to go with me for protection. that's a primary role for a man - the protector

This may reveal a little more about me than y'all want to know, but when my now husband first layed in my bed, he felt "hard objects" under the pillow. He figured they were sex toys and didn't want to cause me embarrassment.

A few minutes later ( wicked grin) He realized they were a knife, gun and claw hammer.

......We got it covered.

When my girlfriend and I were together and I heard a noise downstairs - I grabbed this thin metal bar that could beat a hole into the side of a barn and went downstairs myself. She knew I could pound the living daylights out of anyone that came in the house - unless, it was a ninja who knew martial arts.

Didn't need her to come with me - she may have gotten in the way or unintentionally bashed with the metal rod - I wouldn't want to screw up that beautiful face of hers...as for a burglar - I'd have no problem turning his face into hamburger and she had ultimate confidence in me doing it...and so did I. Would never underestimate my enemy, but had the ultimate confidence in my capabilities in my own home.

Peace :o)

We don't have a downstairs. Once though in the night, a dish fell down, cause I had put it in a precarious position (yeah yeah, all my fault) and when my hubby and I heard the noise, we both got up and went to check it out, then he teased me about making towers of dishes and next time to use glue. :p We have a lot of fun.

If however anyone does enter the house, my hubby is a big strong and ferocious man. He is the Protector of our little family unit and takes his role seriously. I'm the Nurturer of our little family unit and take my role seriously  We are a team! So, if anybody does break in, I hope to call 911 while my hubby seriously would strive to knock out the intruder.

That's horrible. I wonder why there are guys like that? :(

True. I am so grateful for all protectors!!! :) The good men who love, respect, and care for women (no matter their ethnicity and social status) are AWESOME!!! :) I am so grateful my husband is a Protector.

Sad to say, there are many women who are suffering abuse and are hurt by the man who is supposed to protect her. :( I don't understand why there are men like that, who hurt instead of protect? :( It's a tragedy.

LOL My ex loved a good fight and went out of his way to find one but when fast asleep he couldn't be bothered with most noises so it was always me who had the fine honor of giving any trespassers a lead sandwich. But the dogs always beat me to the punch and had all the fun with things that go bump in the night.
