Under The Radar Posted November 15, 2012 Posted November 15, 2012 My ex-girlfriend said this at the beginning, middle and end of our relationship. We were together four years. What the hell does this statement even mean? You would have to ask her about my "Density" levels, but I can certainly vouch for the "Craziness". Obviously, this is a gross over generalization. However, I was curious what other forum members thought about such an inflammatory comment. Of course, we all know how differently men and women can think. The whole "Men are from Mars and Women are from Venus" comes to mind. I'd be interested in others thoughts and insights without the resulting "gender war" we usually see around here. So, what do you think?
Author Under The Radar Posted November 15, 2012 Author Posted November 15, 2012 Yielded the following definitions: DENSE: stupid; slow-witted; dull. CRAZY: mentally deranged; demented; insane. The silence on this thread, to *ME*, implies that the statement "Boys are Dense and Girls are Crazy" is a ridiculous comment. Yes, in general, Men tend to have a harder time conveying their feelings/communicating. Yes, in general, woman do tend to be more emotional/sensitive than men. However, we are all different as dictated by the principle of individualization. No one can say, with absolute authority, that the genders are this or that. Every person has their own beliefs, values, characteristics, demeanor, communication style, and overall disposition. My assertion has always been that a statement such as this comes from a place of immaturity and is patently false. I greatly dislike when the genders are placed im'placably inside a box with no consideration for individual distinctions. BTW, I'll be here all week, providing inhouse commentary for stupid allegations such as the above . Take care ladies and gentleman.
somedude81 Posted November 15, 2012 Posted November 15, 2012 I'll take dense as meaning that one isn't able to understand the more subtle things. Females often communicate in very subtle ways and often times the men they're trying to communicate with don't receive the message or don't get it completely. If that was what she meant by it, I wouldn't take it as that ridiculous. Nothing needs to be explained about "girls are crazy." 1

My contention is that a good communicator relays their thoughts/feeling/needs in an overt manner. Sending "subtle signals" in most cases is a recipe for disaster in a LTR. BTW, I think we need a 1-10 (with 10 being Glenn Close's character from Fatal Attraction) CRAZY SCALE for both genders. Anything 4 or less I can handle. Many men would agree with you. Many women wouldn't BTW, I think we need a 1-10 (with 10 being Glenn Close's character from Fatal Attraction) CRAZY SCALE for both genders. Ruby Slippers Posted November 15, 2012 Posted November 15, 2012 Yeah, I've always heard "men are dumb and women are crazy". Seems pretty accurate to me
Author Under The Radar Posted November 15, 2012 Author Posted November 15, 2012 Many men would agree with you. Many women wouldn't “If you can't handle me at my worst, then you sure as hell don't deserve me at my best.” Yep, perspectives like these always form the basis of any healthy relationship.
Author Under The Radar Posted November 15, 2012 Author Posted November 15, 2012 Yeah, I've always heard "men are dumb and women are crazy". Seems pretty accurate to me I sure wouldn't want to be dumb, but if my alternative was crazy ......
jcrew11 Posted November 15, 2012 Posted November 15, 2012 Women are more emotional and relationship-obsessed so their Behavior seems crazy, especially if they get worked up in an argument or fighting all the time. Men are unemotional and inwardly quiet, so it seems they are dense and dumb and incapable of expressing themselves in a relationship or communicating answers to her needs.

So, what about those of us in the middle of the continuum ?
