irc333 Posted November 15, 2012 Posted November 15, 2012 I saw recently some friends pics online for a Bachlorette auction. Apparently, for over a grand (some how sponsored by local upscale businesses), you get a date package with a specific individual up for bid. They show the date package, and what it includes on the screen. (I.e. - lobster dinner, One night weekend stay at some fancy hotel..um yeah, get to stay the night with a hot stranger) Rest assured, I saw the pictures of these women, they were pretty hot, although high maint. That being said, the WHOLE shindig itself was on the high end (Guess few of my tagged people on FB have such a disposable income) That being said, are most bachelor/bachelorette auctions pretty high dollar? Ever participate in one or WOULD you ever put yourself up on the "block"?
Balzac Posted November 15, 2012 Posted November 15, 2012 The events I'm familiar with are charity events. Raising funds to support a charity cause.
El Brujo Posted November 15, 2012 Posted November 15, 2012 High-priced events like those (and professional matchmakers, who've been around for decades) are really nothing great... rich singles are just as messed-up as the rest of us, only with fatter bank accounts.
grkBoy Posted November 15, 2012 Posted November 15, 2012 Well...the auctions are for charity...so they're appealing to what people with money want.
dasein Posted November 15, 2012 Posted November 15, 2012 They are generally upper middle class affairs. Keep in mind that if someone was going to donate to a charity anyway, this is just a fun way to do it, and the entire bid amount is usually deducted though it may not all be truly deductible. I suppose any charity is good, but these kinds of things aren't really my idea of charity. Cost of events such as these eats well into the amounts raised. So no, haven't participated in these and probably wouldn't.
Els Posted November 15, 2012 Posted November 15, 2012 Nah, we actually had mock-ups of these in college for anything between $50-$300 or so, for charity or fundraisers. Bear in mind that these were not serious stuff and it most definitely wasn't guaranteed sex, the college kids just wanted to have fun while raising funds. I'm not sure what the sort of auction you're posting about is, but TBH if sex with hot women is solely what you're after you'd be way better off hiring a prostitute.
