t520 Posted November 13, 2012 Posted November 13, 2012 Hi I am wondering what online dating site to use? I am willing to pay. I've tried match.com but are there any others? I really like the idea of searching by keywords
Drseussgrrl Posted November 13, 2012 Posted November 13, 2012 Online dating completely stinks. Sorry I know this isn't helpful but NOBODY I met from match turned out the way they portrayed themselves. 1
Art_Critic Posted November 13, 2012 Posted November 13, 2012 I met my wife on match, we now have a little 4 year old.. It's possible to meet people online, I had many relationships forged online at match, a couple were even 1 year plus relationships. I had to learn how to write a good witty, fun profile that sold me as who I was, a funny fun guy who had his feet firmly planted in the ground. You have to write a profile and also form your emails in such a way that the girl knows that she will have a great time going out with you, who wants to waste their time only to be dating a dull dud. You also need good RECENT pictures.. I had put the date of the pictures taken on my profile so women I contacted knew what to expect if we met. Online dating isn't easy however, it takes a good deal of time to contact and finally meet with people. I used online dating for years till I met my wife but I was dating thru the service just fine... Good Luck
mortensorchid Posted November 13, 2012 Posted November 13, 2012 ALthought I'm sure everyone on this forum could write at least 10 books a piece about Internet dating, I hate to say it, but you can and will have the most luck with Match. Of the paid websites, you will meet the most volume of people there. I too have meet the scum of the earth through Match, but I have met some decent people through it as well. I think the key to weeding out the good from the bad is to write a good profile description and have a good profile picture. What are they? It should be something simple and not too deep, because, let's face it, most people don't read the description, they look at pictures. If it's one of those ten page long questionaires like EHarmony does (and by the way, don't go with that one because it's just an expensive way to talk to people), don't bother with it. A good description should read like "I live in (city), I am (height) and have (color) hair. Like Chinese, sushi and Thai food. I work at (job), I have a (degree) from (university). For fun I like to (blank blank and blank). My perfect match is someone who is upbeat and fun to be around. Like to meet someone between age (number to number)." And pick a good photo of yourself smiling it in. Pick one that is accurate - not of one when you were 10 years old or before you gained 40 lbs. Do not put one of you lying down or you will get crazies after you. Don't believe me? Try it.
Ami1uwant Posted November 13, 2012 Posted November 13, 2012 For dating sites there are numerous ones out there. the biggest ones are MAtch, Eharmony, Plentof Fish, OKCupid. Jazzed is MAtches direct comeptitor to Eharmony, and Jazzed is Eharmonys version of MAtch. Eharmony style dating sites where they match people for you and you go through controlled questionaire system before access to open communication may be better suited for people shy or not good in a bar scene atmosphere. Sites like Match are in some ways an online bar. Unlike how things were 3 yrs ago or so...the online sites have gotten alot more users who arent as serious. They are using this as just another alternative to meeting people and they approach it looking to see if they get that dream catch. AS a result of people looking for fantasy matches they tend to pass over the 80% matches search for the 110% matches. This is something you have to be able to deal with and be patient. It is by no means an easy process. Aslo no matter which site you use you have got to meet people face to face ASAP. No matter which site you use you have to look at your profile and ask yourself am I saying who I really am
FitChick Posted November 14, 2012 Posted November 14, 2012 Before joining any website do a search in your area to see what the members are like. Sometimes you have to create a fake or empty profile just to search but you can save yourself time and money in the long run.
