Blade999 Posted November 13, 2012 Posted November 13, 2012 Hi. Im going through a breakup and found that my ex is claiming legal aid. She doesn't earn much but has over £10000 in savings from redundancy but she's moved (hidden) the funds. Is she entitled still?
carhill Posted November 13, 2012 Posted November 13, 2012 Have you tried CAB for local advice? Citizens Advice - the charity for your community
mammasita Posted November 13, 2012 Posted November 13, 2012 I dont have advice, but it sounds illegal to me (not an expert LOL). Don't you have to disclose all assets and income to even qualify for aid?
jaymz Posted November 13, 2012 Posted November 13, 2012 If you are in the UK you need to go through a solicitor that takes on legal aid cases and fill out an application form which is then processed and you are told if you qualify or not. The government website will help you determine if you qualify for legal aid and if so, what level: GOV.UK If she is doing legal aid fraud then you need your solicitor to report her and her solictor to the LSC. You will need proof. Some solicitors are reluctant to do this, I guess because they have all "sailed close to the wind" at some point
