I wouldn't take the Golden Ratio too seriously since Shania Twain is purported to have the perfect face.

She is very pretty but...

But what?

I got an 8.02.

Apparently my nose is too wide and ears too long

It said my face is too long :(

Tell me something I didn't know. The more weight I lose, the horsier I look.

I just did my FWB and he is 7.38.

Yeah, apparently my face is too long too, but I'm not really that bothered about the golden ratio - there isn't a lot I can do about it . I've been blessed with a large head :D. And even according to the machine, I'm an 8, I can't complain.....

My eyes are apparently extremely ideal, which makes sense.

Brad Pitt looks terrible now.

(And the Missing-the-Point award goes to...)

Now that was hysterical!

Shania compared to Audrey Hepburn or Megan Fox, just doesn't cut it. In comparison, Shania's pretty bland looking.

well everyone points out brad pitt but what about adriene brody or edward norton? Those guys are sooo sexy to me but would rate below average on most scales. It simply doesn't account for personal taste.

It's really more of an objective measurement. In that, yeah, I can actually see that Shania Twain is objectively very pretty. But perhaps that energy, her expression (facial, physical etc), and other things are more contributory to her overall appeal and attractiveness, and you add up all of those things with the others, then she obviously isn't quite "in their league" (not a term I would normally use).

But maybe there are some people who really dig Shania Twain, I dunno.

The measurements don't really capture the entire facial beauty of a person IMO.

Not by a long shot.

While some people look better than others in general no body looks hot to everyone. Thus constructing a scale is almost moot.

A general guideline. If you are poorly groomed and out of shape don't expect a well groomed in shape person to even consider you for a moment.

The rule doesn't measure eye shape, tilt or colour, amongst many other factors that enhance beauty.

I scored 8.82 which makes no sense to me.

* My face has good horizontal symmetry.

* The ratio of nose length to ear length is nearly ideal.

* My innerocular distance is too big for my eyes.

* My nose is too wide for my face width.

* The ratio of my face length to face width is nearly ideal.

* Ratio of nose width to mouth width is nearly ideal.

You'd think with this number, that I'd be pretty hot stuff, though - I'm not.

Venus square Mars, Scorpio Rising?

Makes perfect sense

Symmetry nonsense

I often find long noses sexy

Or a tooth out of place very sexy...

or a scar on on side of the face

Like tina fay very sexy

The Discovery Channel piece was interesting. I guess genetics goes a long way considering that 8 out of 10 people prefered the more symmetrical pictures.

I was going to try out that website to rate my face but the dauntingly long Terms & Conditions put me off. I don't want my photo winding up somewhere without my consent.

My eye color/shape is my best feature. It doesn't measure that.

My teeth are NOT my best feature. It doesn't measure that either.

I have never understood this thing about Brad Pitt. Apart from looking HOT in Thelma and Louise, i dont think he really does it for me.

I would be more attracted to Colin Firth

I don't know if this is super universal. I'll take myself as an example:

I am black, I wear a US 14, hourglass-y shape, average height. So based on "typical" standards of attractiveness I would be ranked as not very cute. I am bigger and not white and/or other exotic ethnic group. ;)

But I have a great smile, intriguing eyes, and a bubbly personality. So that probably gives me bonus points. So half of you would think: oh she's cute. And the other half of you would be like "meh." I get complimented on my looks by strangers, but men aren't lining up to go out with me.

So if I choose the right audience, I'll be at the higher end of the scale. And the wrong audience, I'll be at the low end of the scale.

So I have a different goal: focus on putting myself in places where I am at the high end of the scale. ;)

I like your spin on things :). Unfortunately, for many of us, we need to have thick skin in the dating world. It CAN be pretty shallow out there.

To be honest, I really hate all the comments about leagues and so on. Leagues are kinda individual. Like I said some people will think I'm an 8 and other people will think I am a 3. But that doesn't mean that only who match my number and level are interested and should be interested. Not true at all, I've had my share of hot and not so hot men approach me.

I think it is silly. I consider myself a 7 on the typical 1-10 scale. I have dated guys who were 9.5s and I have dated guys who were 2s. NEVER did it cross my mind whether someone was in my "league" or whether I was in someone's "league". There was something that attracted us to each other, whether that was physical or humor or some little connection. I once dated a guy due to the fact that we both loved Ren and Stimpy. (shrug)

If you are talking meeting someone at a club, then sure, the 9s will be attracted to other 9s, and there will always be some guy who is a 2 who won't settle for another 2 and will go home alone.

But in the real world, who we find attractive has many more factors than looks.

Chemistry, connection, humor, shared interests, values, beliefs. All that stuff factors in. Of course, some people care more about looks than anything else. And there are others who really don't care at all about looks.

The whole idea that someone has more value because they look good is silly. Looks fade for us all. And when that happens, there better be something of substance left behind, or you are gonna be stuck with one lost and messed up former 9.5 model.
