mortensorchid Posted November 10, 2012 Posted November 10, 2012 I went out to a MeetUp group this evening, the 20s and 30s one to be exact. I had seen many of these faces before at previous MeetUps, the last time I saw some was months ago. WHen I got there, I was determined not to be the wallflower. I walked around, committed to a space I wanted to sit, and then had a seat. I let others come up and say hello to me, I engaged them in conversation for a few. I asked them to talk about themselves and they were all too eager, both the men and women. I told a few stories, but always asked them to talk about themselves as it makes you seem mysterious and them satisfied with themselves. I felt like I did well that evening. 1
Anela Posted November 10, 2012 Posted November 10, 2012 I'm in Northeast Ohio, too, but have yet to make it out to any meetups. I joined a group several years back, made up of people from a social anxiety board, who also live here, but they kept suggesting things that I couldn't get to, and much of the time, couldn't afford. This is one of the ways in which talking on message boards has helped me, though: I find that it's helped me to relax a bit, at least when it comes to light stuff, when I'm out and about.
