tori0001 Posted November 9, 2012 Posted November 9, 2012 I was texting G tonight, we where making plans to get together tomorrow evening. Upon saying good night to him, in my phone I typed ttl, and missed the y, for talk to you later. On his end he gets ok, Tyler, xoxo. Boy did that cause problems. He types back Tyler??? I told him what happened how the auto correct changed the words. He didn't believe me, and said are you sure. I had to explain again. I'm seeing him tomorrow night, should I bring this up again, or let it go? Any advice would be appreciated, thanks.
Balzac Posted November 9, 2012 Posted November 9, 2012 Apparently he doesn't use a smart phone? I'd let him bring it up. The issues w auto correct are so common that it's become comedy.
Author tori0001 Posted November 9, 2012 Author Posted November 9, 2012 Is there a way to turn it off? It's a pain.
Balzac Posted November 9, 2012 Posted November 9, 2012 Of course. Google is your friend! Depends on phone manufacturer and model.
FitChick Posted November 9, 2012 Posted November 9, 2012 Send him the link to the website that is only about auto correct blunders. Hilarious!
SJC2008 Posted November 9, 2012 Posted November 9, 2012 my iPhone does the same crap. Thag's why I turned auto correct off. I turned it on and it did Tyler so I assume you have an iPhone. TBS you must type warp speed not to catch that. Just show him on your date tomorrow.
Trimmer Posted November 9, 2012 Posted November 9, 2012 I do a lot of texting, but on an old non-smart phone that I am just fine with. So I have to ask: does nobody proof what they have written before they hit "Send" anymore? Or does the phone just send it for you without letting you proof it first? I always proof my Emails and texts (and usually LS posts!) before I hit "Send" because I want to be sure I know what I'm sending. Does a smartphone with auto-correct "on" somehow circumvent this obvious step? Or am I just charmingly old-fashioned (that I actually bother to proofread what I've written before sending it)? 2
MrCastle Posted November 9, 2012 Posted November 9, 2012 I'm about to blow people's minds with this one. You can....TURN AUTOCORRECT OFF. I NEVER understood these autocorrect fails. Do people actually keep autocorrect on? For ****'s sake. smh
Author tori0001 Posted November 9, 2012 Author Posted November 9, 2012 No I didn't proof read it, when I seen it I was like oh ShXXt. If someone could tell me how to turn it off, it would be appreciated, thanks.
