My husband thinks it's silly but I like for us to dress in matching colors. Sometimes he puts up a fuss and he won't let me choose his clothes lol but I do ask him to change sometimes. For example, yesterday I felt patriotic so I wore a t-shirt with an American flag and jeans. When he came home from work and we were getting ready to go out, I asked him to PLEASE change to match me. He is so hilarious cause he started muttering about crazy women (though smiling; I know he's not mad) but he does just for me.

Now, I don't ask all the time... just on special occasions.

Do you like to match with your mate? Or do you think it's silly? I think it's so much fun!!! :bunny:

This is so cute: if you don't like seeing how Jenna made their costumes, just fast-forward to the end. It's so adorable how they match!!!

One time my ex and I accidentally wore similar outfits and I made him change. I would actively avoid matching.

I'd pop back to the bedroom and change if there was any danger of us leaving the house looking like Harold & Hilda!!

Lol :lmao:

Ok, so I must be weird.

Thanks Silly Girl and Iris for giving your perspectives. :)

I have to admit though, I do think it's fun but yeah, everybody is different. :bunny:

Wow, I admire her commitment to the holiday!

To answer the question...well, I have to agree with iris. I actively avoid matching.

But back to JennaMarbles...North and South Korea costumes would have been AWESOME. I can't even imagine what that would have involved, but I want to see it.

You are TOO cute Be ! I would say the farthest I go is dressing similarly as far as the occasion goes. We both tend to prefer t-shirt and jeans, but I am more willing to dress up, so say something like...a comedy club, where you can go in jeans OR dress up a bit, I like us to be on the same level of dressed up or down-ness.

Beth, I've said it before and I'll say it again: you are probably the sweetest, most good-natured poster on LS. I probably couldn't resist pinching your cheek if we ever met.

But I wouldn't do the matching outfit thing on a friggin' bet.

We do sometimes :o

But usually because we are both dressing for a theme, not because we are intentionally trying to match each other  Does that make any difference? We don't mind matching, if the occasion calls for it. Neither of us is going to go put away our shamrock shirts on St. Patty's day, for example :p

No. I have a twin, I have done enough matchy outfits to last me a lifetime.

Me and my ex matched one time and wore black jeans and leather jackets - which was ok but I wouldn't do that intentionally. Unless it is a formal event - being color coordinated is not needed or desired on my end.

I recently attended a black tie event and I wore a white dinner jacket with black satin lapels ( I love it by the way) ...and he of course, wore a tux.

We looked like an "Act".

Hahaha! I don't have a twin, but I do have memories of my mom dressing me and my sister (2 years older) in matching outfits. This was in the 1970s - just ONE of those outfits was more than enough for anyone's eyeballs.

hah! :)

We only exactly matched up to like age 4, and then after that it was the same outfit but in opposite colors. She always got pink and I always was stuck with blue like I was a boy.

Mrs. Pyro and I both have an extended wardrobe of darker colors so by chance we do tend to match a lot, but never on purpose.

Whenever I get to my boyfriend's place, he'll be upstairs getting ready for our date and he'll yell out, "Babe, what are you wearing?" My usual response, "Clothes!" He'll run down and take a quick look, get back upstairs and come down dressed Matchy Matchy! Even shopped for same colored linen pants during the summer! I've never been a fan but I find it cute and fun!

I don't actively try to match a guy when we're dating, but I did have a particularly funny moment.

I had dithered over what to wear for an early date with my ex-ex and after having decided on a shirt, I changed my mind and threw on a mustard yellow-and-navy-blue striped long-sleeve shirt with buttons down the back. I had a dark denim miniskirt on. I came out of the house and my ex-ex was in the driveway wearing...a striped polo t-shirt with the same colors as mine, and dark denim jeans.

I have never consciously done the Matchy Matchy thing with a mate... but whenever I see couples wearing the same thing I think (at the same time) "how cute is that?!" and "boy, they are brave!" A bit of a relief too, to witness a couple that's of the same mind / going in the same direction with each other.

haven't really made a man dress to match me....i don't know if i would be comfortable choosing a guys clothes for him i think that takes away part of his own style to match up with what i am wearing....i know what i like ...and most of the time the guys i have been with dress how i like anyway i don't need a man who is an accessory.....i did buy a leather jacket for an ex as a present it was winter at the time and have bought clothes for others but i choose clothes going by what i know they like not what i like..and definitely not to match my clothes...deb

We don't ever actively match, but I don't avoid it either.

My wife would think it was strange to wear too similar of clothes. However, she does like it (as do I) that when we dress up (ie going to church on Sunday) that my tie or shirt compliments her outfit. I don't check to see what she wears, but when we do match, it does makes us "look better together."

I don't ever think we have changed because we clashed, but I have gone by her and looked at what she chose...and then switched my tie to compliment her outfit.

When I see couples that have matching shirts or outfits, then (assuming they didn't just attend an event together), I wonder...do they dress each other together? How romantic!

Lol!!! I bet that was a surprise!!! Just shows though you both have fashion sense!

I always thought it'd be so cool to have a twin and wear matchy outfits! :bunny:

My twin friends in college didn't do that all that much, but yeah they said that when they were younger, they did. :)
