fortyninethousand322 Posted October 30, 2012 Posted October 30, 2012 I thought this could be a very fun thread. Question #1 for the men: have you ever complimented a (random) woman on her outfit (not someone you are dating, a stranger) Question #2: What were you really thinking? Not on an outfit, but like on a piece of jewelry I think. A watch I think it was. I don't have the guts to compliment a girl on her outfit, I'd probably come off as some kind of weirdo. I was thinking "hey maybe I should say something to that cute girl"...
ascendotum Posted October 30, 2012 Posted October 30, 2012 (edited) I was just complimented on my dress as I got lunch today. I assumed he liked my dress and I look awesome in it. LOL If someone gives a backhanded compliment or insult, I assume THEY have some sort of issue. It does nothing to my level of confidence. Well, they actually don't like the dress or give a stuff about the brand, its more like how you looked in the dress or how it showed off your figure. Maybe it was just brightly colored and you were smiling, and it got you noticed. Is that any better than being told 'hey you look hot' by a random guy at the lunch table next to you? I find many women late 30s start to dress a bit dowdy, they have other $ priorities in life rather than fashion, and more then tend to dress to hide their body rather than show it off An older stylish/chic/elegantly dressed woman would get noticed more in the lunch rush. OP - My answer to your post is pretty much the same as Grkboy's wrote. Edited October 30, 2012 by ascendotum

I don't even mind being told "Hey you look hot" as long as it isn't in a creepy, leering way. A compliment is always appreciated!
Mrlonelyone Posted October 31, 2012 Posted October 31, 2012 I thought this could be a very fun thread. Question #1 for the men: have you ever complimented a (random) woman on her outfit (not someone you are dating, a stranger) Question #2: What were you really thinking? Ladies, questions for you: Question 1: Have you ever been complimented by a male (presumably straight) stranger on your outfit? Question 2: what did you assume about the comment? So this is only meant to be comments from relative strangers, i.e. non-boyfriends or close friends. Have fun and chime in. Hmm well how should I answer this? Yes to both number 1's. To both question 2's the answer is it's about the body in the clothes as much as the clothes. Well chosen clothes make fat people sexy enough and poorly chosen rags make pretty people ugly.
