karpeezy Posted October 20, 2012 Posted October 20, 2012 I was dating a guy for a few months over the summer, we got close very fast and by early September he pulled back hard. So even though I didn't want to, I ended it to protect myself. I thought it had ended on OK terms but when I saw him a few weeks later at a bar he completely ignored me and our mutual friend stressed for me to move on (giving me the idea he had said something to her). Fast forward to this week, 5 weeks after we had stopped talked. NC since the "hey" that was exchanged at the bar 2.5 weeks earlier, and no phone contact since the break off. Wednesday night, I get a text from him asking if I have a Halloween costume yet. We made small talk for a bit about Halloween and work (I was friendly but short with my answers). Then he drops this: "Honestly, I wish I could see you more often". WTF? I put my guard up & told him it didn't seem that way at the bar. He said he didn't know what he wanted at that time. That he wasn't sure he could do the distance and didn't want us to get hurt. I told him I still got hurt and why couldn't he tell me this then. "I'm sorry. I know I'm bad for doing that. And, it's usually as soon as I really start having true feelings for a girl. And, I always regret it". I asked him what prompted him to text me and he said he had been thinking about me, and wanted to see if I would talk to him/accept his apology. I told him that I got the impression that he was done with me. He said that at the time, thats what he thought he needed. So I asked him whats changed? "I'd rather see you when I can, rather than never at all" I said to him, I don't want to get hurt again and he said he doesn't want anyone to get hurt. I told him if he's serious, he can start by taking me for a drink and we can go from there. He said that sounds fair. I texted him thurs evening and we casually talked about the big rainbow that was outside (lol) and the Tigers. Brief but pleasant convo. I'm now waiting for him to contact me and see if he follows through on what he said. I figure if he doesn't, that tells me all I need to know. How long should I wait? But if thats the case, if he doesn't follow through .. why say all that in the first place?? Whats going on in this guys head?!
