LoverOfDance Posted October 20, 2012 Posted October 20, 2012 Question for both guys and girls - what makes you want to be close to someone you like. Do you feel that magnetic pull towards someone when you like them? Do you know why you feel this way?
HeldbyGravity Posted October 20, 2012 Posted October 20, 2012 It's this unspoken tension in the air, a sort of curiosity and attraction (both physical and mental). It's when I get a peak at their personality and then say, "Whoa, that's pretty cool. I wonder what else they're into, let's find out...". Dunno WHY I feel it, I just do. It tends to be for the same reasons- because they turn out to be a gentle person, a kindhearted person with a lovely personality. You can feel how a person Is by how they present themselves, how their body language is, their smile and their eyes. 3
HeldbyGravity Posted October 20, 2012 Posted October 20, 2012 Some people describe it as chemistry, others just mere attraction. I just know when I first see someone I like, my eyes never stray. It definitely feels like a pull, and I've heard it described humourously as "my ovaries are clapping." Dang, my ovaries feel like they're cheerleading the match Could it be that our bodies transmit unknown signals in the air that only certain people can pick up on? Possibly, could be our bodies way of saying "I want to reproduce with him/her!" It feels very basic, though, and primal. Like, it's not an urge you can fully understand and control. New pick-up line. "Excuse me. I want to have your babies. My ovaries are clapping." There is definitely some biological influence! If we're sexually compatible with someone (as in we would have a good chance of producing good offspring), we can smell it. Literally. If your partner's scent is something you could breath in all day, like their skin and natural odor is like a sweet perfume to you, that's just your body telling you little secrets like that. Thank goodness it was smell, it'd suck if to see if we were compatible, our bodies would be like, "Okay, now you have to lick them, and if their skin tastes good...." Another thought on attraction--when they leave the room, and it feels like they took all the oxygen with them.....that's magnetic attraction. I think it's because strong attraction releases those feel-good hormones, and their presence is like a drug. Their absence is like withdrawal; it doesn't feel good.
Disenchantedly Yours Posted October 20, 2012 Posted October 20, 2012 Question for both guys and girls - what makes you want to be close to someone you like. Do you feel that magnetic pull towards someone when you like them? Do you know why you feel this way? These are very complicated questions LoverofDance. I think this stuff happens so many different ways. I think a magnetic pull can happen. Sometimes it will be immediate and with other couples, it will build up. With my guy now, I really wasn't looking for a relationship and I was actually kind of set against it. I've had a lot of stuff going on recently and have really had to take stock on the direction I want my life to go. I just wanted to be friends. But he was pretty persistant and I found myself warming up to him. For one thing, he is pretty cool. I like the person he is although we do disagree on a lot. And for another, he makes me feel like I can just be me and he seems to like me for me, even though I think he is pretty aware of my faults too. We just get a long easily. We still have a long way to go, but so far the natural chemistry and the way we treat each other is a reason I feel like being closer to him. 1
