I a going on a first date, for the first time in 17 years (recently seperated and divorced). Met her online, we are meeting for drinks. If all goes well and we hit it off, whats the protocol at the end...some have said, just a hug, not a kiss... Thoughts please?

I would think it depends on the depth of your interaction as well as what you would do. I think both kissing or hugging is fine after a first date. But is it appropriate based on what you and her have by the end of the first date?

Assuming the date went well, I go for a kiss on the first date. When I was less experienced with dating I typically went for a hug, but now that I've dated a far bit more I think kissing is much better as it shows confidence.

good for you!

you should be able to read her body language and see how it goes. dont think too hard about these things. could be that you might not like her. if it goes well and she's open then give her a kiss.

I never had a bad date and always got kisses hugs. always.

good luck. FEEEEL..DONT THINK!

feel it out. Who suggested a first date being drinks btw? Thats not really a first date in my opinion but to each their own.

If you two hit it off and the sparks are flying then go for the kiss.

I suggested the drinks. Maybe we'll share an appetizer.

I have heard with online dating, the best approach for first date is to meet for coffee or a couple drinks. What should I have done?

I'd suggest, if the date goes well, a hug and a kiss on the lips at the end of the first date. No tongue.
