When is the right time to have start a physical relationship with a partner? Do you ever know the right time? I know that there are certain "guidelines" like the 90 day rule.

Personally, I would never date anyone who had a 90 day rule or even a 30 day rule, or anything rigid like this.

I think where many people (mainly women but sometimes men too) get it wrong is by dating those they don't have a connection with. If you don't turn dating into a sport, if you make an effort to get to know someone before you start seeing them, if you only try to build a relationship with men you have a genuine connection with, you can have sex when you are ready rather than worry about whether he only wants you for sex.

In my experience a relationship will happen when you both like each other and want each other's company and have compatible personalities. It's not really related to how long you wait for sex, rather to whether you have been smart enough to determine whether your connection is genuine.

Waiting for sex is a good idea if you want to get to know someone first of course.
