Hi everyone,

My boyfriend and I will be staying in Manhattan for a few days.

Now, I have an evening dress I'd like to wear, but I'm not sure what places could be ok for that.

Any suggestions? Like a restaurant, a theater... any ideas??

If you have to ask?:eek::eek::eek:

Dress anyway you like. Use common sense! There is no right or wrong.

Well, I'm not sure. Most restaurants in Manhattan are with no dressing code.

Anyone from Manhattan can suggest a place?

Thanks!

What restaurants are you talking about?

If you have shoes, a blouse to cover your chest, and pants or a skirt you can get in.

Where are you from?

Pierre, I believe she is asking of a place that she won't look crazy wearing formal dress. She wants a fancy date with her man in a tux, and her in a black evening gown, and probably hopes there will be others there wearing the same so she doesn't feel like a sore thumb. If I have that right?

Yes! You got it right :)

This would probably be worth yelping a few places to see If you can get an idea, maybe even some of the users on there could make recommendations.

Maybe you could even find a nice place where you can go prepared before hand.

Wouldn't hurt hinting this to your BF either.

And when I say "hint" to a man...i mean tell him using all possible forms of communication and being direct as possible ;)

As a former resident of Manhattan, I can tell you that evening gowns are generally reserved for formal "events"--openings, parties, etc. Appropriate formal attire for a restaurant or an evening at the theatre would be a cocktail dress although formalwear is not required. I suggest packing a simple black cocktail dress and a pair of heels for you and a suit or coat and tie for your bf. You'll fit in anywhere!

Have a great trip!
