Ani Posted October 9, 2012 Posted October 9, 2012 (edited) I know many people on here use skype, and stuff like that to communicate. Will I found this app and it's wonderful. It is made for Long Distance couples and it's free. It also has some nice activities you guys can do on there. You guys can do a thumb kiss. Which is your partner places there thumb on the screen and you place your thumb on your screen and it shakes. I know it sounds stupid but its cute lol. You guys can draw together, and send each other drawings. It has a nice integration of picture, and video messaging. It also allows you to send a voice message to your partner. Maybe send a quick good morning beautiful message on the morning? Well with this app you can. It also has a little thing that you click and sends a message saying *thinking about you* Best part it's free! The App is called Pair. It's available both on the APP store, and the Android store. Pair for iPhone, iPod touch, and iPad on the iTunes App Store https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.tenthbit.juliet&hl=en Sorry if this sounds like i'm spamming or anything. Just really found an App that I found useful, and is fun to use. Edited October 9, 2012 by Ani 2
amayana Posted October 9, 2012 Posted October 9, 2012 Too bad I don't have a smart phone and my boyfriend doesn't either but it sure sounds cute. Thanks for sharing, Ani

I'll read the fine print....I always wonder if our phone carriers will ding us heavily for such things...if not, it'd be fun to use.
Els Posted October 10, 2012 Posted October 10, 2012 Hahah, I really wish we had had smart phones when we were LDR. It would have made things so much easier. Your app is cute, too. Another app that I think would be a must-have is Whatsapp (or the Apple equivalent, whose name I forget). It's basically like messenger or IM, for the phone. You can send people anywhere messages for the fraction of the cost of international texts, as long as you have a mobile data plan. If everyone already has this, ignore me, but I just found it out a few months ago when I got my first smartphone and am STOKED. I've been keeping in contact with friends back in my homeland so much better with it. 1
meeji Posted October 10, 2012 Posted October 10, 2012 Thank u for posting this! I'm gonna try it! I use whatsapp and kakaotalk for texting and calling since he's abroad. And of course, skype.
taiko Posted October 10, 2012 Posted October 10, 2012 Tech has been exploding since I was in a LDR the only concern I see is that in my country just about everyone is on practically unlimited data plans while her's is on a pay as you go load system.

We were using Whatsapp until I found this App on monday and it's much better. It tracks everything you guys have sent. Plus it has some nice activities you can do together on the app that you can't on Whatsapp.

I've underutilized the capabilities of my phone, I am realizing. The 8 hour time difference inhibits things but you're demonstrating there's new and fun ways to connect. And for free! Thanks! 1
123321 Posted October 10, 2012 Posted October 10, 2012 I'm gonna make an app so that when one phone is shaken, the other one vibrates. Work out the practical applications for yourselves but I foresee a market for splash proof smartphone protection. 1

I thought the thread was about nice apps that LDR couples could use so I felt like I could chime in. Apologies if it offended. The person on the sending end would have a very sore and tired hand by the end of it!! 1

NoMoreJerks Posted October 11, 2012 Posted October 11, 2012 (edited) I used to use Viber for texting/text-chatting. It's better than Skype, because both parties don't have to be online at the same time to receive a text mssg, and you can know when the other person got your text message. If the mssg is sent but not seen yet (because their wifi/3G is off ,for example), you can see that on your screen, because it doesn't say "delivered". And you don't have to wait around online, for them to get online so that your mssg gets delivered. You can also make voice calls through it, but no video calls. The voice call quality wasn't that bad, actually. Almost on par with Skype. Still prefer Skype for voice/video chat, though, of all the programs /apps out there. Messages are marked pending until the other person logs in.
blugirl Posted October 15, 2012 Posted October 15, 2012 Thanks so much for telling! We've both just started using viber and whatsapp and omg, it makes me feel so hyper, happy and so much closer to him ^^! Saves my sanity. I love technology <3
