Hi, just looking for advice please.

Sat in my apartment yesterday, music on, reading. Guy in apartment below knocks on my door, I open it, he is r aggressive, tells me to turn the music down..before I can say, ok, sorry, he pushes his way in. I'm in ill health, lost 2 stone, have an op last week and am physically weak and vulnerable. he starts shouting and pushing me, he then headbutted me and punched me in the face. i try to get him out, i push him back towards the door and he grabs my arms, tries to headbutt me again. he had a crazy glazed look in his eyes. By this point I was really scared, so i headbutted him...his nose was a state, my neighbour comes to the door asking whats going on, i ask him, plead with him to come in and help me. Guy has his foot against the door trying to stop neighbour..neighbour gets in and bustles him outside. he threatens me outside the apartment, saying he's going to "finish the job" on me.

This guy has a history of nitpicking, aggression towards tenants and is generally nuts.

Because of my job in education, up to now, i haven't gone to the police, i have an op coming up and will need all my focus on trying to recover and get back to work..had 4 operations this year already.

I feel traumatized, invaded, scared, vulnerable and angry. He trespassed and assaulted me....what should I do next?

Help please. it's 6 in the morning and I havent slept a wink all night...in shock.

I don't understand. Why haven't you called the police? Because you want to focus on other things?

I'm worried, even though he trespassed and assaulted me first, that it goes against me, that I hit back, even though I know it was self defence. Don't want my school or the kids to know, I can only work part time and they're paying me full time wages, they might view it as an excuse to get rid of me.

You were physically vulnerable. If you call the police, realistically, they're going to believe the one who DOESN'T have a history of aggression. Just tell the whole story.
