Why do men have trouble with girls asking where they stand?

When you are seeing someone (dating and sleeping with them) is it best to ask upfront and know where you stand (never has worked for me in the past) or just go with the flow and see where it goes?

 

Just trying to get opinions on this and stop myself from making future mistakes when it comes to dating.

 

Can always get more then one date with the same guy. While dating. It's just the transitioning into a relationship part I seem to have trouble with.

 

Have been in two serious relationships in the past. Where one asked me and I asked one. Just interesting to hear people's thoughts.

 

Any advice will be helpful!

Is your question regarding exclusivity? Or more about there is an exclusive intimate relationship but you are seeking info about the next step?

 

Do you mind sharing an age?

Yes. Seem to have trouble breaking into the next step as in being exclusive and sometimes fall into the friends with benefits trap which I don't want at all.

 

Do I just go with the flow or is it better asking upfront?

 

Age inbetween 28 - 34.

I never ask for exclusivity or ask for a relationship. I simply spend a lot of time with the girl, without making any concessions or talking about 'the future'...

 

When it feels right, at one point, I inform her that I consider her now my gf. It has worked quite well in the past :)
