I had a list in which I added something every day. But I used up all the paper in the book. I figured it would be nice to put it here so people can join in every day if they want to. I'm going to list one thing every time I post in this thread.

So what am I thankful for today?

Hey River Rain,

Wasn't it just a couple of days ago that you were posting about being in so much pain? Wasn't this pain fresh? Shouldn't you be off by yourself healing and grieving and getting stronger?

Just wondering....

We officially broke up about 2 weeks ago, but it was over 5 weeks ago, so I went through a lot of the grieving process over the 5 week period. And yes, I probably did have a setback last week when I posted my pain.

This is how I get stronger. I'm a big believer in leaving the past hurts behind once I grieve the loss. Plus, I did a lot of self-reflection over the last month and realized a lot of things I didn't like about the ex, kind of put things into perspective. I was missing the idea of "us" rather than him.

Thanks for asking, I know we all have our own ways, but this is really good for me :)

And on that note, I'm thankful for this morning's message from New Guy, made me smile :)

I'm grateful for:

* Warmer weather, for several days.

* Rita went peacefully.

* Silly people.

* Nice movies. I'm on an older movies kick.

* Crickets and night critters chirping outside.

* Aunt Brenda and her husband arrive next week.

* In a couple of weeks, the political adverts should stop.

* That I don't miss someone, who used to have a strong effect on me.

* Flower essences.

* Relaxation exercises.

* People who have known you (me) for years.

* Good advice.

After 13 months, I decided to open myself up to the possibility of dating. I met someone who lives over 1,000 miles away. It may not work, but I'm having a nice time communicating with him via email.

Today Im thankful that the book I ordered, "Taming Your Outer Child" came in the mail. I'm thankful for having the strength and courage to embark on this journey of self-discovery.

Also, thankful for "ex" 's best friend for responding to the email I sent a couple weeks back when I was panicking ...looking for his a-hole friend. By ignoring it, I got to show myself just how strong I can be. In the past, I would have succumbed to weakness and responded. Now, I've got my eyes on the prize and will never support or entertain such poor character from anyone.

Being given another day to prove to myself that I can be strong and NOT chase after someone who so coldly devalued and disrespected me. Old me would have ran after him. New me is saying no and refusing to give in even when every fiber of my being is resisting. Thank You God for walking me through this.

I'm thankful for my family. Every one of the people in my family.

My daughter says you can't pick your family but if she could, she'd pick ours.

I agree. :love:

This is such a good idea :)

  • Good weather so I can walk my dog in peace.
  • I've had tonsilitis for the past 5 days and it is finally easing a little. I can actually consume liquids without flinching or crying.

  • My father's health.
  • My dog's companionship.
  • Having the strength to not talk to him today.

This quote: "strength to endure the pain. Wisdom to think things through. Courage to face the fears", and having kept the faith to stick to this path I'm on, though uncomfortable and less than what I hoped for.

Being in "his" city and having the strength to resist reaching out and putting myself in check when I feel weak.

Having an awesome night last night with family and one of my best girl friends.
