Apart from six weeks or so in the early summer, I have had no contact with my xmm since Oct 13/11. The relapse in the NC brought clarity and reality to me.

Looking back on the comments to my posts, I see great wisdom from some posters. Unfortunately, I was in the middle of a "must-have" on my xmm so it was hard to take the advice that so many of you provided: run far, run free away from xmm. Eventually, though, my heart was ready to move on and so I did.

If I had one wish however, it would be this: that when I fall in love with a man, my brains would not melt and my common sense laced with a healthy dose of cynicism would not suddenly disappear only to be replaced with a frightful lack of objectivity.

Another lesson I learned: I must always be on the offensive and decide to stay far away from MM. Don't give a MM a second look or open the door to a relationship even a crack, or else, I will be in the middle of it with brains melting and a "must-have" developing like a funnel cloud over a Kansas wheat field.

You will never be in another affair as nor will I. I'm happy you are well on your way, to clarity, healing and peace. Everyone travels at their own pace, we all process in our own way. But when the crack opens, and we can embrace the utter dissatisfaction with an affair, we can see our way out and begin to take back our power. That feels good, and it gets better.

I'm glad for you and Aunt Madea would be proud of you, girl!! You have seen the light! Life is a tough road sometimes, we all have regrets, if we are truly living and engaging in life. Some lessons are hard, hard, hard and take time to learn. Pull the lessons out of the rubble and leave the rest.

Tale comfort in knowing you did the very best thing for you. Retain your power, put yourself first, and you will be just fine.
