A girl I used to like used to think that Gerard Butler's (in his bulkier phase) body was hot... I'm a middle/distance runner in track - so it is sort of necessary for me to be lean....but ultimately I want to increase my chances with the opposite sex too! Not sure if women love the stick thin look...

If you prefer the out of shape Gerard Butler, then by all means have him lol. Also, in shape women I know would prefer the lean guy with wide shoulders over the flabby tummy guy with no shoulders. Perkins has that V going for him.

There are women who like stick thin, women you like bulked, and women who actually LIKE chubby! It is the whole package - not just the body type - and if you concentrate more on being the best person you can be (not just a man, not just a physical body type, and not just a sexual being) and you will attract someone. 1

I donth believe any woman would really physically find that more attractive. If she says that it's because on some level she thinks he will treat her better and she feels more safe with him.

He doesn't have particularly broad shoulders but having pecs & abs like that is pretty commendable considering the physique of the typical male his age. I'd guess that 95% of women that age would be very satisfied if not super-pleased when he popped his shirt off. I'm lean as **** now (25), but metabolism changes and if I look like that in my 40s I'll be proud of myself for keeping up the workouts.

Tell that to the millions of people in the world who are overweight/obese, or starving & emaciated and don't have the time/money to be benching in 24 hour fitness every afternoon. I run 3-4 miles 6 days a week, do dozens of pushups/pullups, hundreds of crunches; have pretty consistently for years. I don't have bulging pecs or a sixpack, but I do consider myself "in shape" 1

I prefer #2, and do find that body type more physically attractive. #1 is too slender for my taste. I strongly prefer an earthy body type over a slender one. #1 has nice tone, but not enough meat on his bones. I agree that #2 could buff up a little and trim some fat - but not too much. Just enough to tighten up and build up more strength to throw me around with
