So for anyone not familiar with my thread in the Breaking Up section, I'm about two months removed from ending an 11 year relationship.

I haven't been single since high school (now late 20s).

I am not ready to start dating immediately, but I just want to start getting advice on what to do when I am ready. I feel completely overwhelmed and at a loss as to how I meet single guys.

OLD - do I go for it immediately? I thought OLD would maybe be the best way to get my feet wet and get over those first few dating hurdles since it's been so long. Or is that a bad idea and should I wait and see if anything develops with guys I already know? (Or any new guys I may meet in my day to day life).

Also, since I've never made an OLD profile, should I sign up under a fake name just to check out some of the free sites to see how it all goes? And then sign up with my real name? I don't want to put up a crappy profile.

My other reservations hinge on whether the next month or so is still "too soon" in terms of how any potential dates may react. Are guys going to be turned off because I've only been with one person for so long? Do past relationships even come up early in dates nowadays? I want to start dating soon, I am not looking for anything serious again right away, and don't want to scare people away if everyone thinks it's too soon.

I just feel so out of touch with dating and how it all works. I want to start preparing myself now since inevitably I have to get back into it at some point.
