Why does my ex-boyfriend brag about himself after our break-up? He calls, texts, and even e-mails me to brag?

I broke up with my boyfriend recently because I felt like he has attachment issues. He is very distant and overly independent and I cannot connect emotionally with him.

But I think he finds roundabout ways to show he cares about me because he still seems to care what I think of him. He has to tell me as soon as he gets an A on an exam or accomplishes something at work or wins a basketball game or cooks a complicated meal or loses two pounds.

He says he still wants to keep a sort of friendship with me, but I feel like he's trying to convince me of something. Why would a guy brag to his ex about himself?

Why do you keep reading them? I know your purpose was to make yourself look better but you did the opposite.

What do you mean I'm trying to make myself look better?

His way of softening the blow to his ego. The break-up hurts him and that is his way of dealing with it.

You need to break all contact with him or else he will assume that he has a chance with you.

It is a common posting style for the dumped or the one who dumped to slander an ex to feel better about themselves and look like they came out on top compared to their ex in the end.

or he is doing this to impress her in hopes of getting back with her which seems like a real possibility as her post has indicated her own attachment issues, over dependence, and obsessiveness toward him.

not sure what post you read but she clearly stated that he is the one with the attachment issues, hence the last part of my original post.

By making a point about his attachment issues she has highlighted her own. Other women would easily ignore these texts but she is gobbling up the attention and savoring every morsel. She is not over him and overly attached.

That could be a possibility but I am going by what she said unless proven otherwise.

Did you communicate the bold to him? Some men are afraid to show an SO vulnerability or their "softer" side becasue the woman may think he's a puss and lose attraction and dump him.

Actions speak louder than words and her actions are coming through as clear as a bell.

That appears to be your perception.

No perception filters here Doctor. Just plain truth.

You can believe what you want to believe, but that doesn't make you any more correct about it than me or anyone else.

Except it ceases to be a belief when it is true.

Coz' he is insecure. He needs some validation. A little boost to his ego.
