Ninja'sHusband Posted September 25, 2012 Posted September 25, 2012 Was just responding to a thread and I mentioned one song I listen to...and more started to pop up in my head. I listen to heavy music so some of the lyrics are much darker than my actual POV, but it's fun to fantasize and just let the anger boil out. Of course some are more inspirational. The Police's Song "Every Breath You Take" is a good one. (I bet you know this one) Linkin Park's new album "Living Things" resonates with me. The most positive song is "Roads Untravelled" Weep not for roads untraveled Weep not for paths left lone Cause beyond every bend is a long blinding end Its the worst kind of pain I've known Give up your heart left broken. And let that mistake pass on Cause the love that you lost wasn't worth what it cost And in time you'll be glad it's gone. Weep not for roads untraveled Weep not for sights unseen May your love never end and if you need a friend, there's a seat here along side me. Sevendust's Denial is a pretty angry song that gets me going. For me it describes her blameshifting, lies, and me having to leave.. What - never say what you mean All I hear is a scream Never say that to me Never say that to me Wait - wipe that **** off your face Let's don't stop till we bleed The more you spit out your mouth the less I believe Denial seems it had to come Relied on me to say it all Denial has LEFT YOU ALL ALONE I - Can all that **** that you said Ever make any sense Where did you run to - bitch While I was holding my breath? What's sacred faded into nothing Never put that on me... Never put that on me... Denial seems it had to come Relied on me to say it all Denial has LEFT YOU ALL ALONE DENIAL SEEMS IT HAD TO COME Relied on me to say it all Denial has left you all alone Waste DENIAL SEEMS IT HAD TO COME Relied on me to say it all Denial has left you all alone Celldweller(Klayton) sings about what I image to be a revenge affair...I don't condone such a thing but I've sung along to this in a pretty dark mood before.
Steen719 Posted September 25, 2012 Posted September 25, 2012 Florence and the Machine Gives me resolve to listen to this! (My kind of music, too) Regrets collect like old friends Here to relive your darkest moments I can see no way, I can see no way And all of the ghouls come out to play And every demon wants his pound of flesh But I like to keep some things to myself I like to keep my issues drawn It's always darkest before the dawn And I've been a fool and I've been blind I can never leave the past behind I can see no way, I can see no way I'm always dragging that horse around And our love is pastured such a mournful sound Tonight I'm gonna bury that horse in the ground So I like to keep my issues drawn But it's always darkest before the dawn Shake it out, shake it out, shake it out, shake it out, ooh woaaah Shake it out, shake it out, shake it out, shake it out, ooh woaaaah And it's hard to dance with a devil on your back So shake him off, oh woah I am done with my graceless heart So tonight I'm gonna cut it out and then restart Cause I like to keep my issues drawn It's always darkest before the dawn Shake it out, shake it out, shake it out, shake it out, ooh woaaah Shake it out, shake it out, shake it out, shake it out, ooh woaaah And it's hard to dance with a devil on your back So shake him off, oh woah And it's hard to dance with a devil on your back so shake him off And given half the chance would I take any of it back It's a fine romance but its left me so undone It's always darkest before the dawn Oh woah, oh woah... And I'm damned if I do and I'm damned if I don't So here's to drinks in the dark at the end of my road And I'm ready to suffer and I'm ready to hope It's a shot in the dark and right at my throat Cause looking for heaven, found the devil in me Looking for heaven, found the devil in me Well what the hell I'm gonna let it happen to me Shake it out, shake it out, shake it out, shake it out, ooh woaaah Shake it out, shake it out, shake it out, shake it out, ooh woaaah And it's hard to dance with a devil on your back So shake him off, oh woah Shake it out, shake it out, shake it out, shake it out, ooh woaaah Shake it out, shake it out, shake it out, shake it out, ooh woaaah And it's hard to dance with a devil on your back So shake him off, oh woah
eleanorrigby Posted September 25, 2012 Posted September 25, 2012 Run For Your Life-The Beatles Well I'd rather see you dead, little girl Than to be with another man You better keep your head, little girl Or I won't know where I am You better run for your life if you can, little girl Hide your head in the sand little girl Catch you with another man That's the end'a little girl Well you know that I'm a wicked guy And I was born with a jealous mind And I can't spend my whole life Trying just to make you toe the line You better run for your life if you can, little girl Hide your head in the sand little girl Catch you with another man That's the end'a little girl Let this be a sermon I mean everything I've said Baby, I'm determined And I'd rather see you dead You better run for your life if you can, little girl Hide your head in the sand little girl Catch you with another man That's the end'a little girl I'd rather see you dead, little girl Than to be with another man You better keep your head, little girl Or you won't know where I am You better run for your life if you can, little girl Hide your head in the sand little girl Catch you with another man That's the end'a little girl Na, na, na Na, na, na Na, na, na Na, na, na I like the raw emotion in this song. I liked it just as a Beatles fan, but now it has more significance.
NotInProvence Posted September 26, 2012 Posted September 26, 2012 Joey and Rory, "Cheater, Cheater." I liked the song before I was a BP; now I just wish I could find the nerve to throw him out! 1

Author Ninja'sHusband Posted September 26, 2012 Author Posted September 26, 2012 Before He Cheats - Carrie Underwood Haha, I forgot about this one. My reaction was soooo less severe and yet my inlaws think I'm to blame for the divorce...

NotCamelot Posted September 26, 2012 Posted September 26, 2012 Written by a friend of mine, and a #1 hit for Reba McEntire: Rumour Has It When he wrote it, it was from the male point of view (changed a few words for Reba). After d-day, I pulled out the demo tape and listened to it a lot. 1

Author Ninja'sHusband Posted September 26, 2012 Author Posted September 26, 2012 (edited) I listened to this one a lot. I love that album but that song actually tended to sound too much like my wife's words. This one really got to me though: Edited September 26, 2012 by Ninja'sHusband
freestyle Posted September 26, 2012 Posted September 26, 2012 Ironically--this song has been stuck in my head all week---- back to the 80's we go......
freestyle Posted September 26, 2012 Posted September 26, 2012 And this one's ancient--but timeless........... Perfect song for the one 180, or the trip to the curb......... The blues feel suits the sentiment, too. IMO. "Don't Let The Sun Catch You Cryin" Woman don't you shed no crocodile tears I'll never take you back, in a million years Don't let the sun catch you cryin' Cryin' at my front door.......... You played me oh so dirty And I sure don't want you no more.. And don't let the sun catch you lyin' Lyin' at my front door....... Your daddy done turned salty Baby you made me so sore.... You can cry, cry, cry Yes, baby you can wail Beat your little head on the pavement Til the man comes & throws you in jail.. Don't let the sun catch you cryin' Cryin' at my front door.......... You done me oh so dirty And I sure don't want you no more.. Dr John & Mavis Staples - Don't Let The Sun Catch You Crying - YouTube apologies for the video quality--but it's hard to beat Dr. John for this song... 1
Snowflower Posted September 26, 2012 Posted September 26, 2012 Follow Me by Uncle Kracker Lyrics go something like this, "don't worry about that ring you wear, if no one can know, then nobody can care." (don't have time to find the lyrics on Youtube right now) I hated that song long before infidelity paid a visit to my doorstep!

Gotta love Louis Jordan---the ORIGINAL rap artist-- I might have that in my LJ collection, too--I don't remember. But good news---I found it! "Don't Let The Sun Catch You Crying" by Louis Jordan & The Tympany Five (live 1966) - YouTube I still like the slower Dr. John version best, for the feel--no disrespect to LJ. I'm partial to the gritty, dipped in barbecue sauce style of Dr. John's playing...... Now I have to see if anyone uploaded "Ain't Nobody Here But Us Chickens....."--- 1

There's a version of Don't Catch the sun that's slower and closer to the '46 version. It has the backing orchestra a bit more prominent in the mix as well. My two faves might actually be Caldonia and the Chickens song I think "Beware, Brother, Beware" is the original rap song. Really Louis was a rocker before Elvis too. Agreed---"Deacon Jones" is pretty funny, too.... Plus--there's the counterpoint to "Beware"---the song to warn all the women about the ill-intentioned men...... 1
Betrayed&Stayed Posted September 26, 2012 Posted September 26, 2012 A few songs pop into my head... Journey's Faithfully - enough said Eagles' Hotel California - The line "You can check out any time you like, but you can never leave" makes me think about the OM. He checked into our marriage for 3-4 months and then "checked out". He's been long gone for years, but he never fully left. Casting Crown's Slow Fade is one that I watched/listened to hundreds of times following D-Day. It help soothe me while I tried to figure out the "How could you!?" question. God, that pursuit drove me insane. I've made references to this song on here before. Slow Fade Songwriters: Hall, Mark; Be careful little eyes what you see It's the second glance that ties your hands As darkness pulls the strings Be careful little feet where you go For it's the little feet behind you That are sure to follow It's a slow fade When you give yourself away It's a slow fade When black and white are turned to gray And thoughts invade, choices are made A price will be paid When you give yourself away People never crumble in a day It's a slow fade It's a slow fade Be careful little ears what you hear When flattering leads to compromises The end is always near Be careful little lips what you say For empty words and promises Leave broken hearts astray It's a slow fade When you give yourself away It's a slow fade When black and white are turned to gray And thoughts invade, choices are made A price will be paid When you give yourself away People never crumble in a day The journey from your mind to your hands Is shorter than you're thinking Be careful if you think you stand You just might be sinking It's a slow fade When you give yourself away It's a slow fade When black and white are turned to gray And thoughts invade, choices are made A price will be paid When you give yourself away People never crumble in a day Daddies never crumble in a day Families never crumble in a day Oh, be careful little eyes what you see Oh, be careful little eyes what you see For the Father up above is looking down in love Oh, be careful little eyes what you see 1
