While I know why you would want to, it is a sign that you don't trust him. And he can be offended if you do it without asking. Besides, you may find something that is really nothing. And that nothing may seem to be something because you don't understand what it really is.

For me, I do hide things...such as this forum. LS is a way for me to vent about my personal life and get over it. If my wife read this, then there is no way that I could feel free to express my feelings without wondering how she would view them.

She does have access to my FB and email and phone.

That's not snooping. That's like borrowing a sweatshirt.

But the fact remains that if there HAD hypothetically been hanky panky going on, I would have seen it while doing so. From the OP's post, it seems her bf is highly against her ever looking at his phone at ALL. That seems a little excessive IMO.

I would NEVER exclusively commit to someone that I suspect would cheat on me. I have more self respect than that.

That's a pretty naive statement.

I guess it's different for everyone. My ex was many unsavory things, but I knew in my heart of hearts he would never lie to me, let alone cheat. He has this hang up about people touching his crap which included his phone and computer. I never thought twice about it because lying/cheating weren't on the table.

As an aside, never ask someone like that a question unless you're ready for the cold, brutal truth. "how do I look tonight?" Eh, I'd rethink that dress. "did I sound stupid when I said that" Yeah, sorta.

No, it's not.
