irc333 Posted September 24, 2012 Posted September 24, 2012 There's this one woman in our group of friends, kind of cute, but tends to dress rather conservatively, almost pioneer woman style. EVEN on the hottest of days. She's early 40's, but I swear, I don't think I've ever seen her wear a T-shirt to a BBQ or pool party. Don't get me wrong, you might think she dresses for sun protection, good move....but even at night, she dresses as such. Do you think she'd attract more men if she dressed with more flattering attire? I had to kind of chuckle, because she brought her 20 something daughter with her to one of our parties, and shew as wearing a pair of cute shorts and tight tank top , VERY curvy and I was thinkin, "Hm, I wonder if her mom looks like that underneath all those baggy, pioneer-wear? I dunno, think she'd attract more men by wearing something figure flattering? While most of her female friends wear shirts that go above the knee....she wears them straight to the feet. Let's just say, she's FAR from a "Summer Dress" kind of woman.
Els Posted September 24, 2012 Posted September 24, 2012 She is definitely the first person I've ever heard of, wearing a shirt that goes straight to her feet. 3
oaks Posted September 24, 2012 Posted September 24, 2012 Do you think she'd attract more men if she dressed with more flattering attire? Maybe she's not trying to attract anyone (from within that circle of friends). Shocking, I know, but not everyone is trying to get a partner with every breath! 2

Els Posted September 24, 2012 Posted September 24, 2012 LOL...just caught that, good eye....I just woke up. I meant skirts, not shirts, I get the two confused sometimes. lol In all seriousness, though, I've found that a woman's dressing can never please everyone. If she were to wear skirts that ended above the knee, she might well get baleful glances and whispers from others that she's trying to dress too 'young' for her age. Sometimes women don't want to deal with all that crap, so they just hunker down and dress conservatively to at least get THAT group out of their hair.

If you're in an area that's like California or off the Gulf Coast, well....just odd to dress as if were 40 degrees out all the time.
Titanwolf Posted September 24, 2012 Posted September 24, 2012 There's something magnetic about women who leave much to be desired. You said yourself "Hm, I wonder if her mom looks like that underneath all those baggy, pioneer-wear?" she's making you think, thus giving her an element of mystery. Mystery is never a bad thing in my eyes. 2

Author irc333 Posted September 24, 2012 Author Posted September 24, 2012 And how does she dress in those photos? The same as she dresses in person. She actually used some of the photos from the gatherings she's been to.
amaysngrace Posted September 24, 2012 Posted September 24, 2012 Your taste is your taste. Maybe she doesn't dress for others as much as she wears what she likes? 2
oaks Posted September 24, 2012 Posted September 24, 2012 The same as she dresses in person. She actually used some of the photos from the gatherings she's been to. Then that's an insight into 'her'. Perhaps someone will find her attractive as she is, or maybe they won't. Not sure how well you know her, but have you asked her if she's getting many dates? Not everyone wants to see a bare leg, or whatever, in order to find someone attractive, and not everyone wants to be 'on display' even if they've got something to show. As for not dressing for the climate... maybe she uses a good antiperspirant.
Bristolius Posted September 24, 2012 Posted September 24, 2012 Maybe she's two very short women. I noticed some ankle length dresses and skirts this summer. I thought they looked nice and even pointed them out to my friend. No body parts were mentioned, just clothes.
stillafool Posted September 24, 2012 Posted September 24, 2012 Is she attractive? Does she have a pretty face and a good weight? If so, she can still attract a man. Some guy might appreciate that she doesn't put it all out there like some women.
darkmoon Posted September 24, 2012 Posted September 24, 2012 amazing how men think they've got the right to tell us what to wear some say "she asked for it" in rape cases cuz she was dressed sexily, some think we want instructions on looking more sexually available but they have no right to tell us cuz that's way too intimate and is the job of a good discreet female friend

This reply is a completely different topic anyhow

Mme. Chaucer Posted September 24, 2012 Posted September 24, 2012 OP, I have grown accustomed to your penchant for posting critiques about random women who are not even in your life. I guess it's your hobby. How about spreading the joy and posting some pictures of yourself? Maybe even sharing your online dating profile? I would enjoy the opportunity to make fashion suggestions, etc. about you. 1
Author irc333 Posted September 24, 2012 Author Posted September 24, 2012 Actually, there's a topic going around about how women who dress in costumes (say for Halloween or a Sci-Fi convention) are actually irritated with how THEY are being judged as slutty, BUT they want to dress as such, and not have men make innuendos in their, when they're wearing a female version of "Blade" in their profile. Or an oversexed version of Catwoman. Like Halloween is an excuse to dress as such. Sorry , ya can't have your cake AND eat it too. At least you're dressing conservatively. this is what you put up as a problem, just above it doesn't happen often, but i have known three different men friends telling me about how much better i'd look if i did this or that - i told them about safe-dressing so i can't be accused of "asking for it" as in dressing to inicite a rape, but i didn't fancy these guys so i dressed down not glamorous, tbh, to say no, and glamour is a look i feel safer concealing at times, mostly at a late-night bus stop, rape happens, and overall one woman can't please all tastes i think your freind likes to be sex-life free
Els Posted September 24, 2012 Posted September 24, 2012 The funniest part of that video was when he called, "We should have drinks later!" after her. Speaking of wanting to have one's cake and eat it too..
