MrNate 2.0 Posted September 23, 2012 Posted September 23, 2012 I've always wondered about this. What do you typically notice about a man's clothing first? If it is what I think it is..then I'm gonna have some more questions:laugh:
O'farrell Posted September 23, 2012 Posted September 23, 2012 they notice the socks and underwear followed by shoelaces and undershirts
2sure Posted September 23, 2012 Posted September 23, 2012 His pants. First the style ...has he given up completely? Then the fit...does he look at himself? Then the cut...are there pleats? Then onto the details, obviously, but the other things first and more importantly.

If it is what I think it is..then I'm gonna have some more questions:laugh: decent clothing clean i like suits and white shirts also have a thing for white t shirts.....its more foot wear though those are what will carry him for his mortal life not the clothes on his back....i bought a guy to meet my dad once, he wore no shoes....i was young.....it was all innocent i was grounded after that and whenever i asked to meet him or go see him i would be given a mountain of chores to do.......my father seen him as disrespectful as he hardly ever wore shoes even in the street.....i do believe now as an adult my father was.....correct, he also smoked a fair bit of pot....my father didnt know that.....or maybe he did, he did some background work i think about the family. He had this look in his eye when i used to ask to see this guy and i knew that he wasn't saying everything he knew because he would clam his lips shut...and then give me a mountain of chores when he opened them......deb
runner Posted September 23, 2012 Posted September 23, 2012 style and fit. hmm, on this note, seems like the styles of the early 1970s are in fashion again. not that i'm complaining. i dig the early 70's.
2sure Posted September 23, 2012 Posted September 23, 2012 What if he's not wearing pants? Down where I live, I wear shorts roughly 360 days a year. Same! But if he is wearing shorts I also add....where are we? Is his shirt long sleeved? And then move directly to footwear...cuz its dicey.

I though for the most part jeans are jeans, as long as they fit decent and aren't like crazy baggy.
Spartan039 Posted September 24, 2012 Posted September 24, 2012 hmm wait shouldn't there be a difference per context? Like I wear nice clothes when going out or on dates or meeting others group date but what about like just everyday clothes? And is style different if it's a college student vs. guy in his 20s/30s? Like where I live, most guys wear shorts and shirt everywhere and if you wear somewhat nice clothes, it really stands out. Until the weather starts to get "cold" (lol). And is it true shoes make a huge difference? I have nice shoes for the occasions and semi-nice shoes for the casual nice clothes but most of the time, if it's going to class or going to work or to a coffeeshop, I usually wear one of my 2 pairs of crummy sneakers. Maybe that's not a good idea? lol
GirlontheLam Posted September 24, 2012 Posted September 24, 2012 I tend to notice shoes first. I am not sure why. If they aren't sneakers or sandals, it is a hint that he might be stylish. I like dress shoes, driving shoes, and those "fancy" street shoe/sneakers. After shoes, I notice fit. How do pants fit, shirts fit. If you are wearing a t-shirt, is it a nice, well-fitting t-shirt? Does it look like a t-shirt you got for free somewhere, or one you chose. I really love seeing a dressed up man, in well-fitting clothing. I live in a super casual area, where people who are dressed up for work are wearing khakis and hoodies. Everyone dressed well stands out to me.

I know they do, I buy two different kinds but it's not like I remember the name or really notice the difference between the two much. I didn't think women would look that closely.....

I didn't think women would look that closely..... No all of them do. Some of them are really into it though. The thing that amazed me is how candid some will be when you ask for an opinion. "get that pair, they make your ass look hot".
msfreebyme Posted September 24, 2012 Posted September 24, 2012 I tend to notice his style in pants. Then his style in shirts and especially in socks.
Imported Posted September 24, 2012 Posted September 24, 2012 I tend to notice his style in pants. Then his style in shirts and especially in socks. Not a skater, but I do like skate socks and other unusual socks. Socks from Dogfunk.com
Spartan039 Posted September 24, 2012 Posted September 24, 2012 hmm interesting, I usually save my nicer-than-normal clothes for class on occasion but mostly for doing things other than casual everyday activity. Me thinks I should revamp my shoe collection....3 crummy pairs from running around campus and work and only 1 nice shoes, not counting the formal shoes. Do socks really matter....? -______- If they're low cut, you can't really see them if you're wearing a shoe.... And yeah to me, jeans is jeans.....guess not? lol
Els Posted September 24, 2012 Posted September 24, 2012 I honestly don't know - I suppose I am a bit of a sucker for a nice, well-fitted shirt. I also like a rough look on the shirt - slightly low-buttoned (though not excessively) without a tie, sleeves perhaps rolled up a bit. Something like http://www.fashionstylestrend.com/wp-content/uploads/2012/03/1306001420-96.jpg . Lots of guys seem to like wearing huge, baggy shirts - I'm well aware how those are more comfy, but it really doesn't look as good as a fitted one. Just my opinion - I go wild for the bf when he wears something like the above. hmm interesting, I usually save my nicer-than-normal clothes for class on occasion but mostly for doing things other than casual everyday activity. And yeah to me, jeans is jeans.....guess not? lol If you're going to campus, most people do tend to dress very casually and simply, so I wouldn't worry too much about it. Wearing a dress shirt and slacks and shiny black shoes to campus would most likely garner you the wrong sort of attention, IMO. Save the dressing up for when you go for dates or dinners/events. Unless your idea of 'normal' is a XXXL cartoon tee and shorts that look like boxers that you sleep in - in that case, I agree that it might benefit you to try a 'nicer-than-normal' look like jeans and a fitted tee/jersey/whatever.

One such is I just had a pretty big interview, and I went to visit my ma. She wanted to know how it went and she was looking at my outfit, then she said "You look nice..but what is wrong with those shoes??" I'm more of a 'functional' type guy, so I thought they looked ok, but.. I guess they could use an upgrade. There was also another instance of an older sister of mine complaining on facebook about how men try to hit on women when their shoes are dirty. I've always thought, because they're so low to the ground and dark, that women wouldn't notice, but clearly I underestimated their eye. Yikes.
Author MrNate 2.0 Posted September 24, 2012 Author Posted September 24, 2012 So I have to ask, why is the lower part so important? Or is just more of 'having the entire package'?

LuckyLady13 Posted September 24, 2012 Posted September 24, 2012 Personally, I notice blue collar guys (like a guy running a jack hammer building a bridge as an iron worker all day) first and the thing about their clothes I check first? Does it look like he's been at this a while? Worn in work boots (not brand new), a relatively tight pair of comfortable jeans that aren't too old and his shirt! Isn't it weird I said shoes first even in this case? Ha, ha, ha. I love blue collar guys who are strong so if he's new at the job...not my kinda guy. I want to see some wear and tear on those boots and a sleeveless shirt to check out his arms! However, I'm not 100% blue collar and that's it so when a guy is wearing a suit? It had better not be some off the rack no name suit. I don't like the shoes usually that go with them so I try not to pay any attention to them. I want to know, similar to the bridge worker that this guy has been wearing suits enough to know what a great quality and cut is compared to some off the rack job that doesn't fit great and is designed to be put on a hanger, not a man. I guess I'm doing a quick check to make sure the guy knows what he's doing weather he's white collar or blue collar. I'm looking for experience and experience helps a guy exude confidence. If you're going to pick up a woman (especially for the first time), make sure your shoes are clean though! No holes, not falling apart and not the pair you'd wade through a swamp in! Clean, new and nice. It will be really obvious if you're wearing old, worn out shoes standing on her front porch!
suladas Posted September 24, 2012 Posted September 24, 2012 I use to be awful with the shoes, but I wised up. Got 1 casual pair and another pair for going out that are kept nice.
Negative Nancy Posted September 24, 2012 Posted September 24, 2012 A man's clothing- what catches your eyes first? The pocket on his ass. It tells me if he has a fat wallet. 1
