women, do men still want you in your 30s?

I have no doubt that a woman can continue to get dates into her late 30s or older. However, far fewer men are willing to enter into an exclusive relationship with or marry a woman who is that age if they think they can get a younger woman. Obviously there are individual exceptions to the rule. However, I doubt that any man on this site would disagree that an average-looking 28 year-old-woman is much more attractive than an average-looking 38 year-old-woman.

:D so why do men tend to marry women close to their own age? You really need to get out more

A woman turning 30 is the same as when the clock struck midnight for Cinderella.

30 might be a young cutoff age for this. However, a woman in her late 30s really does get far less serious interest from men than does a woman in her late 20s or even early 30s. The 30s are the decade where an awful lot of women really hit the wall hard.

If a man marries in his 20s, he is very likely to marry a woman close to his own age. However, both studies and anecdotal evidence show that the gap between the husband's age and the wife's age increases the older the man is when he marries. If a man marries at age 26, a five-year age difference between he and his wife is huge. However, if the man marries at age 36, a five-year age difference between he and his wife is probably normal.

yes a lot of people marry within their age-range, I don't think anyone considers 5+ or 5- as particularly younger or older. it goes both ways, both my mother's and my sister's long term live-in partners are younger than they are by a couple of years but no-one ever discusses that because 2 years here or there make zero difference

Many men think they couldn't attract or keep a younger woman yet most of their fantasies are about younger women.

People pretend to draw satisfaction from work to cover up how they are using it to cope.

I happily live on in my false consciousness!

Those men have issues.

Ladies, stay away from those men, at any age.

Those men are the typical man who you already dated and will date in the future. You can avoid them if you go lez but that's about it.

To sum up, either all men really only want to date 21 years old women and all the guys who responded otherwise are lying

or

the guys who insist their world view is the only truth have issues.

People fantasize about all sorts.

I was at a debate society thingy last night and one of the speakers is in his early 20s. I was doing a lot of fantasizing looking at him up and down :p

I like to keep an open-mind to all possibilities, but I'd wager that there's a good percentage of men who enjoy titillating conversation with women of all ages. I could be biased though. My reference point is that flirtation and attraction is fun and generally well received -even when coming from a 36 year old.

But you know, if the Men-Hate-Women-who-aren't-16 crew manages to convince me no man in his right mind could possibly ever be attracted to me, I'll gladly stop flirting with the guys around me. Why put those poor guys through the grinder of being appreciated by a worthless woman?

Or a 40 year-old (moi ;)). That's because people change throughout their lives and they want different things after growing and maturing (hopefully).

 I'll put that question to them tomorrow night when I'm out with the boys again.

Lets see a picture of you. :)

I'm dating someone that is younger than me right now. After all the old guys I dated it's pretty cool. :)

Also, if you really only started dating "quality" men after you turned 40, then I would bet that your own idea of what a "quality" man is has changed dramatically from what it was when you were in your 20s.

That's right. In my twenties I had low self-esteem and lacked confidence so dated losers who treated me badly. Now I date winners who treat me fabulously! :bunny:

Bless you child! I command your dedication to the cause of men harassed by unattracttive women over tirthy. Please come back and report. This is a pressing matter. Why, just now I was walking downtown and I checked out a 30 something guy. He smiled back, but I know he was forcing himself to look pleased by the attention. I really must stop torturing the boys.
