kalaiwillis Posted September 21, 2012 Posted September 21, 2012 I guess I am naïve and assume that men are the same regardless of what country they are from. Boy did I get a surprise when I recently went on a date with a guy who is living in my hometown of Denver, but is originally from Australia. This guy was unbelievable. Not only did he not open any doors for me, he didn’t pay for dinner and all he could talk about were what he and his friends do all the time. He called them mates actually now that I think about it. This guy was simply beyond rude. I couldn’t get over how this guy acted so I started doing some research online to see if all Australian males act this way. I randomly came across this book classified as humor called Australian Men: Don’t Go There Girlfriend. I had to buy it to see if maybe my date was not a result of me, but maybe that is just how Australian guys are. I was so relieved that it was not me as they are just that way. The book was extremely funny and it turns out the stories are based on the author's real experiences with Australian men while living there for four years. I have not had much experience with dating any men that are not American. However, after my date and reading this book, I won’t be dating an Australian guy anytime soon!
Titanwolf Posted September 21, 2012 Posted September 21, 2012 (edited) The book you bought just single-handedly summarized, the behaviour pattern of an entire country of men? Must be some book... Edited September 21, 2012 by Titanwolf
mortensorchid Posted September 21, 2012 Posted September 21, 2012 I don't think you should assume that all men from Australia are jerks just because this guy is/was. But do keep in mind that there are cultural differences (despite his behaviors) that will always be there between you and that person from another country, whether it's him or someone else from another country. Still, forget this dude, he's a douche.
GirlontheLam Posted September 22, 2012 Posted September 22, 2012 I've met some pretty gentlemanly aussies. That guy was a loser.
