irc333 Posted September 18, 2012 Posted September 18, 2012 Wow, while I was browsing through dating profiles...there was this one woman, age 40-ish, had her screen name as her first name...something "Happy Susan 123" Did a first name search on FB, for "Susan", pulled up the city (Which is a pretty small township)...and there she was, first person on the list. Crap, we're not even safe with our first names. lol Anyone ever seen this?

Mrlonelyone Posted September 18, 2012 Posted September 18, 2012 Me. I have an unusual first name. There are some here who have been able to figure it out from my personal descriptions of myself. It's a name that was probably more common in the past but isn't now. One of the people I have written about here also has an unusual first name. In fact it was one of the many things we bonded over back in the day. A name can be a great icebreaker if it's a little uncommon.
Author irc333 Posted September 18, 2012 Author Posted September 18, 2012 Not sure how many people will want to admit to stalking. I'm sure everyone has looked people up they've been in touch with. I knew of a woman that worked at a law office that was fixed up with a guy by a friend, used their system to do background checks on them. LOL
Emilia Posted September 18, 2012 Posted September 18, 2012 Of course you are not safe with your first names, especially not if you have a photo posted AND live in a small place. Not sure why she didn't use something more imaginative (like a different name)?
startinganew777 Posted September 18, 2012 Posted September 18, 2012 I talked to a guy off POF last year, for like a day. He only knew my first name and we never met. He gave me his number, I never called and then he disappeared off POF. A couple weeks later, I get an e-mail from FB saying that what's his name wanted to be friends with me. WTH?! I have no idea how he found me. I clicked on his profile and it was gone. He must have went on my page, accidently friended me and then blocked me. Weird. It is scary though that he found me and I live in a large town. Same guy found me a year later on OKcupid. I asked him about it cause I recognized him and he acted like he didn't know what I was talking about. He ended up being a player anyways but scary he found me. Twice.
