Long story short - we officially broke up 21 days ago. I know from past experience that NC was the way to go. I deleted her # and eventually took her and her family off of facebook since I could not deal seeing her small avatar on the side and clicking it. - Did not contact her once.

Fast forward to yesterday. I have a half marathon I been training for and she texts me n the morning "myname, I want to wish you good luck at the race today. Hope you are still running it. I know you've worked so very hard for it. i don't know were I am right now in terms of communication but I really wanted to say good luck and congratulations today".

I respond with a "Thank you, name, Yes I am still running it, I'm walking towards the starting point now. I appreciate the well wishes." and left it at that.

All day today, I really wanted to text something about communication comment, but I know it's not worth it. I know I need to move on and I can't pin on the past anymore. It's all breadcrumbs like you guys say. I'm just having a really tough time right now since I come home from work, and this is the time I'd usually be getting ready to see her. Hold me down from to this NC chair, splash me some water.

I always tell myself Alpha behavior always and texting her again would not be alpha at all.

Group hug all!

Kinda selfish of her. If she knows how hard you worked to prepare for the race she should know it would be an inconvenient distraction to hear from an ex for the first time on the morning of a race. If she initiated the breakup then just keep on moving on. Shame you even replied to her but cant change that now. If from day one you knew that nc was the best for getting through this then dont question it now.

she is just tossing you some bread crumbs to see if you are still swooning over her. No more responding; there is no real reason for it. It's too soon anyway.
